heh....

President Trump on Tuesday shared an image of a panoramic portrait illustrating the size of his inauguration crowd that has been put on display in the White House press hall.

Trump tweeted a photo of the portrait, which was taken by Washington-based photographer Abbas Shirmohammadi, during Friday's inauguration ceremony.

What the hell is wrong with peeing in a womans barhroom? Even though it's rare, the shorter line always wins.

Shit, man, I wrote a couple of paragraphs. I know that's not the whole picture. I actually started studying the details of this populist dynamic last Summer (and I posted an article about it back then). Now, I didn't think Trump had enough wind on his back to win, because I thought he would lose the woman vote. I blew that one. Make no mistake, though, I don't believe this whole political dynamic we're in now can be boiled down to a few paragraphs posted on the internet.

sardis

I'm not denigrating people trying to feed their families. I don't do it with drug dealers and I don't do it with fossil fuel workers. I wouldn't do either job, but my options are different. My biggest point was just that. It's a fool's errand to try to capture the industrial past we once had. Not. Coming. Back. The fossil fuel industry is not the industry of tomorrow. People need to make sure they work to expand their options. You don't have to be white collar, ivory tower to know that making short term decisions at the expense of a more fertile future is foolish and works against your best interest, in the long term. I think that is true on an individual level, a corporate level and a societal level. My Grandfather was a farmer with a 3rd grade education (at best) and I know he would say the same thing...because that's what he always said (in his folksy way). You don't have to be some smarty-arty, urbane gentleman to see that.

Also, shrugging off a 1 degree change in global temperature is very disappointing. The implications are real, even from a national security angle. That was a really myopic statement.

So, did he or did he not go apeshit over the crowd size thing and make his PS tell a bald-faced lie to the press? Or do you think it's all a big game? The WaPo had a big story on Trump and his depression over not being loved enough. Part of me wants to believe that he's completely fucking around on everything because he knows he can. The other part thinks Trump is such a narcissist that he really gets worked up over shit like that.

"Not sure how that is calculated or if inflation is the correct term but looking at how much the cost of goods and services has increased vs. the wage rate in the US and what percentage of a paycheck goes towards those things."

I think the term you're looking for is duplexer ratio...

"the common theme from those people "“It was just hard to believe that decent people could vote for that man.”"

and that's precisely the elitist bullshit they're tired of and voted against."

You realize that by defining people who didn't vote for Trump as "elitist" you're saying more than half the country is elitist, right? By definition that just can't be right...

Almost as easily as you are dismissing anybody who isn't down with Trump as "elitist"...

Meanwhile whole counties in Eastern Pennsylvania will keep hoping for that $30/hr manufacturing job to come back or for spots to open up on the local fracking line (earthquakes be damned)...all the while BNYM or some other place are looking for software developers and can't fill them unless they grab Rajeev who went to Duquesne grad school after he left Kolkata.

Short-sighted, wishing on a star asses. Good luck with that.

You really need to get out more.

After the election my own wife described her bout with Hillary fatigue - she still voted for HRC but she set me straight on a few things I hadn't considered. The jests about white women hating ambitious white women apparently has some strain of truth to it. And how older women view the presidency as men's work. Hell, my MIL made a big deal about Trump quitting the race after the Hollywood Access video..yet she still voted for him.

I guess I ought to pay more attention (at least during the commercials).
