GOP Demands to Know Obama's Iraq Strategy Going Forward - June 18, 2014

heh

excerpts from Conservatives Against a War with Iraq, by Rep. John Duncan R-TN - March 6, 2003

Most people do not realize how many conservatives are against going to war in Iraq. A strong majority of nationally-syndicated columnists have come out against the war. Examples include the following:

Charley Reese, staunch conservative voice on C-Span, wrote that a U.S. attack on Iraq "is a prescription for the decline and fall of the American empire. Overextension - urged on by a bunch of rabid intellectuals who wouldn't know one end of a gun from another - has doomed many an empire.

Paul Craig Roberts, the highest Treasury official under Reagan, says "an invasion of Iraq is likely the most thoughtless action in modern history."

James Webb, a hero in Vietnam and Reagan's Secretary of the Navy, wrote "the issue before us is not whether the U.S. should end the regime of Saddam Hussein, but whether we as a nation are prepared to occupy territory in the Middle East for the next 30 to 50 years."

Knives Don't Kill People: Part MCMXLV

A teenage boy fatally stabbed a classmate after school Wednesday in The Bronx, authorities said.

Timothy Crump, 14, sustained several stomach wounds in the attack by Noel Estevez, who was wielding a kitchen knife, police said.

Friends said Estevez, also 14, had been relentlessly bullied by Crump, despite the fact that they were Facebook “friends.”

The attack took place outside IS 117 on Morris Avenue at about 3 p.m.

Crump went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead at Bronx Lebanon Hospital.

“The detectives came for his mother,” Crump’s friend, Tyrone Rivers, said outside the victim’s apartment.

“I could hear her crying. She kept saying, ‘They killed my son! They killed my son!’ ”

Cool story, bro. If only the 14 yr old victim had also been carrying a kitchen knife he might be alive today.

Knife registration would put an end to the madness.

Fox's Megyn Kelly curbstomps Cheney over Iraq. It didn't help that the old curmudgeon called her "Reagan."

I thought it was conservatives/tea baggers that excluded folks.

Professor’s fellowship ‘terminated’ after WSJ OpEd declaring ‘the left wants to stop industrialization—even if the hypothesis of catastrophic, man-made global warming is false’. Prof. Caleb Rossiter: ‘Just two days after I published a piece in the Wall Street Journal calling for Africa to be allowed the ‘all of the above’ energy strategy we have in the U.S., the Institute for Policy Studies (IPS) terminated my 23-year relationship with them…because my analysis and theirs ‘diverge.’

IPS email of ‘termination’ to Rossiter: ‘We would like to inform you that we are terminating your position as an Associate Fellow of the Institute for Policy Studies…Unfortunately, we now feel that your views on key issues, including climate science, climate justice, and many aspects of U.S. policy to Africa, diverge so significantly from ours’

In an exclusive interview with Climate Depot, Dr. Rossiter explained:

“If people ever say that fears of censorship for ‘climate change’ views are overblown, have them take a look at this: Just two days after I published a piece in the Wall Street Journal calling for Africa to be allowed the ‘all of the above’ energy strategy we have in the U.S., the Institute for Policy Studies terminated my 23-year relationship with them…because my analysis and theirs ‘diverge.’”

“I have tried to get [IPS] to discuss and explain their rejection of my analysis,’ Rossiter told Climate Depot. “When I countered a claim of ‘rapidly accelerating’ temperature change with the [UN] IPCC’s own data’, showing the nearly 20-year temperature pause— the best response I ever got was ‘Caleb, I don’t have time for this.’

The matter is settled. That's because we say so. No opposing views will be tolerated.

We'll all be bummed out when the US troops pull out, and Baghdad and Kabul look like Saigon did in 1975.

No matter is ever really settled with the far right. The New World Order, mind control, flouridation, vaccinations, integration. Our illegimate Manchurian Candidate potus. At some point rational people have to just move on. If a flat-earther gets kicked out of Science Club, what does it matter?

Watching the testimony of the IRS commissioner before Congress about the missing Lois Lerner emails. And all the people she sent/received to/from? Their emails disappeared too.

He seems to be defending the indefensible tenaciously. Gotta give him credit for that.

The House Republicans should subpoena the NSA to produce THEIR copies of the Lerner et al emails. The NSA has copies of EVERYTHING. You can rest assured those "missing" Lerner emails are safely stored with them. They could probably do that in a day or two if they wanted to. But if the NSA says THEY lost the Lerner emails too, then this farcical charade will be elevated to a whole new level.
