All of our 2014 signees are qualified and enrolled.

How far we have come in that regard since the Tuberville days. Tubby used sign some decent - but unlikely to qualify - recruits towards the end of the recruiting season. That was the only way his recruiting classes cracked the top 20 in the rankings. He was the greatest recruiter that Hargrave Military Academy ever had. Few of them ever made it to Auburn.

Don't bash Tubby.

Ever.

He'll always have "The Thumb." Nobody can ever take that away from him.

He was also royally screwed in 2004.

Unbelievable. He was so young. He was on al.com last week shown with a recruit. RIP.

Shame. By all accounts, a great young man from a great family. His sister plays soccer at Bama, and is just as special. She has handled this with such poise and grace.

Germany plays France in the World Cup today.

What's the over/under on when France surrenders?

Gule, you damn near hit it...Germany scored in the 13th minute. Dachshunds everywhere rejoiced, and then tried to occupy every French poodle in sight.

Hope you reprobates, ne'er-do-wells and other varmints had a great 4th of July weekend.

Hey Bonfired, and happy 4th.

You know why the Champs-Elysees in Paris is lined with such tall, beautiful trees?

So that the German infantry can practice their marching in the shade.

8/30 Arkansas - WIN
9/6 San Jose State - WIN
9/20 @ Kansas State - WIN
9/27 Louisiana Tech - WIN
10/4 LSU - WIN
10/11 @ Mississippi State - WIN
10/25 South Carolina - WIN
11/1 @ Ole Miss - WIN
11/8 Texas A&M - WIN
11/15 @ Georgia - WIN
11/22 Samford - WIN
11/29 @ Alabama - LOSS

Won't matter for the SEC West as Auburn still wins this division. They will kick South Carolina's dicks in the dirt in the SEC Championship. Their SEC schedule may be the toughest which will help them with the playoff committee.

12-1

Thats about as good a schedule as you can get in the SEC. Got breaks in all the right places.

I dunno...South Carolina & Georgia will probably be the two best teams out of the East

In 2014, South Carolina and Georgia ARE the best two teams in the East. But I think that was Nostron's point. If you want to get into the playoff, you need to win 11 of those games AND have a killer schedule. Auburn has the most killer schedule in the SEC.

At least you can always count on Georgia to choke. Always. Usually in the worst possible way and at the worst possible time. It's what they've been doing since Richt took the helm.

So my money in the East is on USCe.

Eh. South Carolina is guaranteed at least one WTF loss that screws them out of the East, and people forget just how damn important Shaw was to that team. He was the heart and soul of that offense. Thompson will put up better passing numbers, almost by default, but things are far from certain. There are answers needed on defense as well. This team could easily limp home at 8-4.

Auburn will be lucky to have a winning season. Our QB just got caught with some wacky tobacky, so his status is uncertain. His backup is inexperienced. Tre Mason was THE running game last year (which is to say he was the offense last year). He is now with the Rams. It will be very difficult to replace his production.

Another big reason Mason got so many yards last year was OT Greg Robinson. He is also now a Ram. Another big reason Mason got so many yards last year was his bulldozer-like FB Jay Prosch. Jay is now a Houston Texan. In short, our 2014 offense will be a shadow of its 2013 self.

Our defense was pretty poor most of last season (although they improved somewhat late). The two top performers were Dee Ford and Carl Lawson. Dee is now in the NFL and Lawson will probably miss the whole season with an ACL injury. We don't have any great players to replace them. We are especially thin at LB and the secondary.

On special teams, Cody Parkey will leave huge kicker's shoes to fill. His booming kickoff's were hardly ever returned, and he won a lot of games for us with last-second field goals. There will certainly be a dropoff in scoring with his departure. That is particularly vital for a team that must score on every possession just to overcome a porous defense.

The schedule s brutal, as is always the case with Auburn. We get K-State early on the road. Classic trap game that can ruin a season early for a young team like ours. We play in the SEC West, which is much tougher than the anemic East. And worst of all, for the first time, we play play our biggest rivals - Bama and Georgia - on the road. Last year we had them both in Auburn, which had everything to do with the Miracle and the Kick Six. There probably aren't any miracles awaiting us in Athens and Tuscaloosa.

In short...

GENTLEMEN, AUBURN IS IN TROUBLE.
