One of my favorite things is to listen to one practitioner of a certain mythology argue that they are correct and not some other sect of the same mythology. It's like listening to two children arguing over the age of Santa Claus or the true color of the Easter Bunny's fur.

And, yeah, I know it's gone on for thousands of years. I imagine ancient Greeks in some temple of Apollo arguing about a "fact" regarding him. It's just funny.

You think we've come a long way as a species and then shit like this comes along to remind you that most people are barely evolved apes who are confused and afraid of the world around them.

Boy, those easter celebrations were so lively. I can see why people would willingly give up drugs and flock to the church...

Excellent point. Hey Cletus, why haven’t you apologized to black America for your personal culpability in your alma mater’s slave trading in the 1830’s? You need to check your white privelege.

And speaking of checks, you need to write a TON of those to Jesse Jackson as reparations. As an attorney, you benefited tremendously financially from your Georgetown education. You have a lot of guilt to expiate. If you pay him enough money, Al Sharpton will grant you an indulgence.

Sounds like Hillary Clinton's speeches since the election.

This amazes me:

Poll: White evangelical support for Trump at record high

That assessment may be harsh, but it is also probably fair. Trump is everything evangelicals hate in everybody else.

First and foremost, to evangelicals, you MUST be able to relate a convincing salvation experience. Trump doesn't even try.
Second, evangelicals demand that you have a strong knowledge of the Bible. Trump can't even say "2 Corinthians" correctly.
Third, evangelicals frown on divorce and remarriage. Trump has been married three times.
Fourth, evangelicals hate adultery. Trump has had more women than some NBA teams, most famously the porn star Stormy Daniels.
Fifth, evangelicals prize humility. Trump is as arrogant as they come.
Sixth, evangelicals dislike gambling. Trump owns casinos all over the world.
Seventh, evangelicals frown on the slightest profanity. Trump has a roaring potty mouth.

I’m not sure if he believes in evolution or that the earth is 5,000 years old.

About the only evangelical moral standards Trump meets are he doesn't drink, I don't think I've ever seen him dance, and he is pro-life (at least for the past 3 of his 70+ years).

But Trump and the evangelicals remain the most puzzling of bedfellows.

As long as trump and the gop keep the racism and the anti-gay policies, he’ll always have the white evangelical (and your) vote. Thats really all that matters.

Did Trump reinstate slavery? Lynchings? Poll taxes? Literacy tests? Segregated schools? Whites only water fountains? Fire hosing protest marches?

If he did that, then I won’t vote for him.

On second thought, maybe you aren’t aware that all those profound evils ended 55 - 150 years ago. You ARE aware of that, aren’t you?

As long as Trump has a '-R' after his name and they have no other choice, the evangelical right will rationalize their way to loving him, just as they did the mormon Romney in '12. If the next GOP nominee is an athiest or muslim they'll support him/her too.

He didn't reinstate slavery or Jim Crow but he is doing his best to roll back the civil rights movement. Between Betsy "Private school voucher" Devos looking to use taxpayer money to send rich kids to expensive schools and leave poor kids an even worse lot than they're getting now, to Ben "let's scale back fair housing laws like Trump's daddy used to do" Carson. And let's not forget Jeff "why the hell did we ever stop sending black folks to prison at the drop of a hat" Sessions. The list goes on.

I was unaware that school vouchers would only apply to wealthy people. I am under the distinct impression that school vouchers would make it possible for poor black kids to finally escape the human warehouses that are the public schools in most cities - especially the cities that are run entirely by Democrats.

You have a very narrow, almost cartoonish perspective on this. Definitely a mark of a very limited intellect.
