well you know, they all can't be for BC today
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Refs didn't give the game to UK. Florida did all they could to make sure Florida didn't win.

Cal may have exorcised the FT demons and it may not have been just an anomaly with the Brow/MKG squad.

Condolences, UNC faithful, on the death of Dean Smith. Truly, a legendary coach.

Sad day and makes it sadder that Doherty and Williams ruined his legacy.

Aren't Roy and Dean's win% virtually identical, both in conference and overall?

59-35 vs Duke 24-14 vs Coach K. Of course that is not counting the year coach K quit on his team,

Coach K record should be 40-40 verse UNC and Dean 26-14 verse Duke.

I love how ESPN shows the Capel play over and over again and everyone thinks DUke won that game and Coach K was not even there because he quit on his team.

They both did it the "North Carolina Way"

AA, Coach Smith was too far removed from his coaching tenure to have the outpouring of emotions that Coach Bryant received when he passed, but for the faithful and those who remember him as being the face of the program for so long, the emotion and sentiment must be similar. When you are a child, your heroes are invincible, and when you become an adult, you are crushed because you know that isn't true. Today is a sad reminder of that.

I am in my office watching old games. I will probably be here most of the day doing this.

My condolences to you, DS.

Smith was one of the greatest CBB coaches ever. No doubt.

Sorry to hear about Dean. I'm guessing the horrible outcome to the UNC cheating investigation had a part in his death. UNC tore down everything he built. So sad.

Stunning news this morning. Knew it was coming, didn't expect it to pop up the way it did. Reading old stories and seeing photos from the past just made me feel more morose and old and convinced that nothing in the world of sports will ever be as good as it was back when you could count on 3 Jefferson Pilot broadcasts of ACC games on Saturday intertwined by an afternoon of driveway basketball.

You guys still won. What difference does it make?

I was at my brother's house yesterday when Stu called to commiserate about Dean. At some point, Stu asked my brother if he had any personal Dean stories, I figured my bro would tell something about being at UNC basketball camp when he was a kid, but my brother instead told of the time he met Dean in DC in 1991 when the Bulls were getting ready to play the Lakers in their first NBA Finals appearance. My bro told Dean he was thinking about betting on the Lakers to win the series, he said Dean looked straight at him with a look of concern and point blank told him that was not a good bet and that Chicago would not lose. As Stu pointed out, I'm sure plenty of people shared that sentiment in 1991, Lakers were clearly past their prime and Jordan was ascendant. But still, that kind of unequivocal tout coming from Dean Smith (who had coached 3 of the players in the series) would certainly affect my betting decision. Plus, I'm glad my bro has a personal memory of Dean that is not some feel-good bullshit about getting a free ticket or how Dean laid hands on him and cured his anal fistula or whatever, but rather about the raw underbelly of sports gambling...

I can hear the WRAL theme in my head right now followed by the Jefferson Pilot / Raycom intro.
