I do and I can say the horrors of living here are greatly exaggerated. Maybe not for the handful of neighborhoods where the gang violence is bad but, for the vast majority of us, life here is quite nice. The idea that I need to carry a gun or even own one to feel safe is ridiculous.

It's only horrible on the south and near west sides. Other than that half of the city, it's my favorite place in the world. Except in the winter.

Gun 'enthusiasts' always bring up Chicago because the gun death numbers are high even though the gun laws are strict. Fact is, however, that Chicago isn't even in the top ten percentage-wise. New Orleans is number 1 with a bullet - 62 deaths per 100,000 citizens. Chicago is only 18.1 deaths per 100k.

New York has the toughest gun laws in the country and they are way down the list with 4 per 100k.

Incorrect - with a few exceptions, the mentally disturbed have every right to own a firearm. I own a dozen myself yet I have visions that the Vols will beat bama this fall and win the SEC.
