looks like Fowler decided he could play earlier and more ofen at UF and he's probably correct - congrats to the gators on picking him up - now if one of the juco ol coming in to the noles can block him then I'll call it a wash

otherwise it looks like a really good class overall - now if we can just get that o line to gel...

Yep, OL is the weak link right now. Remember that we only want to carry ~16 OL, which is about where we are now, but we brought in a ton of OL last year (10, IIRC). So we couldn't really bring in 6 more this year, it's just time for several of the guys we brought in last year to step it up and some of the upperclassmen to get healthy and do their job too.

But this DL is going to be absolutely sick for the next few years. The depth and talent is crazy. And once again, a reminder: just a few (3?) years ago, we started a walk-on (Yarbrough) who had no business being on the field at all. Now we have probably 6 guys who could be playing in the NFL one day, half of those could be 1st rounders.

Doc - I'm sure you saw but Winston signed. He was in Texas (I think) for an all-star game and wanted to come back and relax for a couple of days before signing his LOI. Nothing to panic about.

Good win over the Tire Warriors to remain at the top of the ACC. We won't finish there but if we finish in the Top 4 I'll be happy.

Jason - I love all the faux outrage expressed by our idiotic AD with regard to the WVU cancellation. I'm sure Jimbo did NOT want to play this game, so to appear to be the jilted one is a beneficial position in the court of public opinion, even though it wouldn't have surprised me at all if we had been the ones to cancel. Now we can go through the motions of scheduling a big time replacement but end up with a cupcake, then we get the Tennessee model of 1 strong OOC (UF), 1 mediocre OOC (USF), and 2 cupcakes.

Thats where we are heading re; scheduling and I am not happy about it.

We need strong nonconf games to offset the sucktitude of the ACC - UF, UT etc can afford the cupcake route because they will always have 2 or 3 really good home games - we dont get that in the ACC.

How anybody could be at the OU game last year and not want to try to duplicate that environment is beyond me.

That's a fair assessment as far as it goes.

IC we played in one 5-game stretch #15, #1 (AP), #1 (Coaches), #11, and #9. (without our starting qb no less)

Good article for perspective on where FSU is as a football program right now.

http://www.tomahawknation.com/2012/2/15 ... wo-seasons

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BCS Teams with more wins than FSU over the last two seasons:

24 LSU
24 Oregon
23 Oklahoma State
23 Stanford
22 Alabama
22 Auburn
22 Oklahoma
22 Michigan State
22 Virginia Tech
22 Wisconsin
21 Arkansas
20 South Carolina

Teams with wins equal to FSU over the last two seasons (19):
Nebraska
West Virginia

BCS Teams with fewer wins than FSU: 51

So while two consecutive four-loss seasons is disappointing, the reality is our program is solidly in the Top 20 overall right now. If we can get a few breaks this year and cut the injuries down, we could end up in the Top 8 or so this year.

yep - just in time for the shake up in conference affiliations that will allow us to go to the SEC and allow the ACC to find another basketball school with a mediocre at best football program to join...
