Guitar player is Howling Wolf. Banjo player is Garcia. Waterfall is Yellowstone. We live in a glorious country.

Re: La Salle Explorers
got back yesterday.
Drove from Cincinnati to Quebec City (14 hours) to Bar Harbor (7 hours) to Acadia National Park (20 minutes) to Ashland, New Hampshire (6 hours) back to Cincinnati (13 hours).
Quebec City is fun - its a European city in North America but prices are comparable to Paris there in housing and food. I dropped some serious cash while we were there.
The drive from Quebec City after you cross the border into Northern Maine is amazing. Here we are on the day before a major holiday and we basically had the road to ourselves. Honestly I think the Upper Pennisula is more populated. We followed route 201 along the Kennebec River - at least 50 miles of just gorgeous scenery of this rolling shallow river with mountains as a backdrop and we saw 4 people...4...on Kayaks in the water during that time. We couldn't even find a place to eat until we hit a town called Skowhegan which was at least 70 miles from the border. There was an occasional gas station and maybe "Earl's Diner" for the locals but really ...its few and far between.
70 miles of this
Bar Harbor is really nothing more than a tourist trap that the wealthy locals tolerate to have good places to eat and shop. Acadia National Park was nice. If you're a coastal person who likes the ocean then Acadia would be amazing to you - I'm a mountain person so I have to give the nod to Smokey Mountain National Park - just more of everything, including tacky tourist stuff. Although buying live lobster for $4.59 a pound and getting lobster dinners with all the trimming for $17 is a nice perk.
We spent the night in a small New Hampshire town - some burg in the middle of the White Mountains. Where I was blown away was Vermont. The drive from New Hampshire to Schenectady, New York is amazing. Mountain - Lake - River -Mountain - Lake - Mountain - River - it never stops and just these little burgs separating them. Between Brattleboro (which is kind of a dump) along route 9 to Hoosick is perfect country -at least in the summer.

I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Go to Northern Maine in the winter and you will see why not many people live there.
Conversely, I am currently sweltering in Daytona to fulfill a graduation wish of my son. It is going to be a long day.

yea, I'm a winter person and even I don't think I could tolerate Winter beginning before Halloween and ending at Memorial day.

Does my copy cut off part of your daughter on your screen as it does mine? Wondering why?

Yep. Much bigger on different computer. Now I can see the whole picture. I'm sorry eCat, but your daughter will give you much worries when she's 15, 16. Glad I have boys.

I can already tell Daddy isn't as fun as he used to be to her.

Was the boy running laps at the time?
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

no he was off at camp - while I still have work to do, the boy has made huge strides lately. He and I are on good terms. We finish up his Eagle scout project this fall.
