(earlier this year) The protest outside the event center wasn't the only rally against Trump in Salt Lake City on Friday. At Liberty Park, Latino advocate Tony Yapias played a recording of a phone call he received Friday morning over a loudspeaker. In the call, a woman told him to "Get out of my country."

Yapias, the director of Proyecto Latino de Utah, said Trump's rhetoric is contributing to hatred against Latinos, so the advocate organized the rally against the front-runner Friday night. Yapias said the rally — attended by about 150 people, mostly of Hispanic descent — was about showing Trump that Latinos in Utah will not put up with his hate speech.

Tony's brother James Yapias called for Trump to apologize to "all of our children" for referring to Mexicans as rapists and criminals during the campaign.

--------------------------------------------------------------
This week.....
Well-known Hispanic activist Tony Yapias was charged with rape after he allegedly assaulted a woman who ended their four-year relationship a few months ago.

Yapias, 50, known as Adolfo Tony Yapias-Delgado, was formally charged in the 3rd District Monday with rape, a first-degree felony and evidence tampering, a class A misdemeanor.

Yapias is the director of Proyecto Latino de Utah.

The Davis County Attorney’s Office is handling the case.

According to court documents Yapias went to the woman’s home in South Salt Lake on March 21.

“The victim had terminated the relationship 10 days prior and had expressed strongly and repeatedly in text messages that the relationship was over and she did not want anything to do with the defendant,” court documents state.

A) Blumenthal was neither Hillary Clinton, nor a member of her campaign, and

B) Blumenthal when asked Thursday about the claim called Asher a liar and say's it never happened

Fact: HRC or no one from her 2008 campaign have ever been attributed for questioning BHO's place of birth. No evidence - video, audio, or written (ie: emails).

Whereas Donald Trump's foray into politics began with his very public skepticism of Obama's citizenship and continued even after the display of the president's birth certificate. As late as this week he refused to acknowledge the obvious...until Wednesday's press conference.

Tick, the ever loyal Clinton crusader, wants to make sure that you all understand that in no way have the Clintons used any racist tactics in 2008 running against Obama.

Trump called a news conference to end the birther movement that he basically built. Obviously his paid investigators came up empty-handed. All of his large volume of birther pronouncements are part of the public record. There is no evidence that the other candidate engaged in same. I'll drop my defense of that point of fact if evidence to the contrary comes to light.

Birthers were, and are, a joke. A yuge fucking joke. Just sayin'..

I think clearing up what is truth and what is fiction is never a bad thing. It's something that is too exhausting for journalists today (and the amount of hyperbole and outright lying is sickening this political season), so I appreciate the work people do to separate real from fake. You can't get on tick too much, personally, considering you posted the thing in the first place. I think tick did us all a favor...although I'm sure someone else here will bring up the fact that HIllary started the Birther chatter within 3 weeks in here.

ok, so let me make sure I understand

you guys take Blumenthal, former aide to President Clinton and employee of the Clinton Foundation at his word, and Asher is just a liar with an axe to grind. Is that it?

Sid Fucking Blumenthal

that's the "separating fact from fiction" part of this discussion?

Im not on voting for either nutbag, but the idea that Trump built the birther movement seems pretty farfetched. Its a nutball internet moron thing first propagated by Hilary supporters and continued by McCain/Romney supporters/Obama haters. Trump just ran his mouth on it like every other nutball thing. Its no more than him just spewing shit like making Mexico pay for a wall or whatever.

From Politico in 2011

if you haven’t been trolling the fever swamps of online conspiracy sites or opening those emails from Uncle Larry, you may well wonder: Where did this idea come from? Who started it? And is there a grain of truth there?

The answer lies in Democratic, not Republican politics, and in the bitter, exhausting spring of 2008. At the time, the Democratic presidential primary was slipping away from Hillary Clinton and some of her most passionate supporters grasped for something, anything that would deal a final reversal to Barack Obama.................
