I think Krauthammer has it right. We should block any Russian advance with our own military, even if events escalate into a full nuke-shooting conflagration. Odds are our lasers could knock some of those rooskie ICBMs down. There's an excellent chance we'd have survivors, imo.

Anything to keep Ukraine sovereign, I says. Or at least the part that wants to be sovereign - not those crazy Bolsheviks in the southern part.

Slim Pickens always reminded me of W - right down to the way they both pronounced "nuk-u-lar."

That's right, Ukraine just needs to understand that back in 1994 we actually had a backbone. Now, not so much.

It's a big step towards a new Cold War, which would be expensive and dangerous.

A promise was made in 1994 by both US and Russia in exchange for them handing over their nuclear weapons. If we sit back and do nothing our negotiation abilities in anything foreign policy is compromised.

I treat that the same as a college head coaching agreement. Meh.

As expensive and dangerous as the War on Terror?

As expensive as the War on Drugs?

Neither the Wars on Terror or Drugs involve the possibility of a major nuclear exchange between two countries with thousands of those nasty things.

Things are getting damn serious according to the latest quotes on Fox News....Obama has reportedly told Putin, "You can keep your Crimean peninsula if you want it."

What do you propose? Scramble jets, send in a carrier group? Go to DEFCON 2?

Well Russia has a shit ton of Oil and Natural Gas. So they could be dicks though. However, if we could have decided to change our ways say like 20 years ago and really made an effort to do away with foreign oil and become self sufficient, then we could put the hammer down on them and not worry about the non-sense. With that said, to many people in and around the gubment make to much money off it so fuck it, keep going!! It is worked so far.
