Whereas a mortar-man in Vietnam likely saw combat constantly, a mortar-man in Iraq was like a fireman in an igloo village. Maybe he did have a "touch" of PTSD, but I'm thinking he's just an evil SOB.Bklyn wrote:PTSD or some other mental health issue that has gone untreated (if not totally undiagnosed) and was exacerbated, at least, by his time in the service.
The EU is all about power. Making Ireland take money it does not want to take, proves it's sovereignty over a member nation, a big issue in Europe right now. The author is right in that if a country feels like it's getting short changed on taxes, i.e. France and US, it can pass legislation to collect those taxes. I disagree with him on the comparability to state taxes here in US. Even if a home state gives incentives to have headquarters of a nationwide operated company, the other states aggressively do collect taxes based on the in state activity of those out of state companies. If US and France are not getting their fair share, that's their choice and the fault of their governments, not Ireland or the company itself.Bklyn wrote:Decent summary, for those that care about this Apple tax deal...
