I think people also get crazy addictions, similar to buying new clothes or new shoes. In my case, I buy sunglasses.

"Art is hard, and easy to fuck up. I think a lot of people also dont realize that abut plastic surgery, which is also art."

I know, that's why I told her if she really wanted one, I'd take her to a known tattoo artist and spend the money to get something good. But she couldn't wait, obviously...

What would you do, Rat, if your daughter came home with a tat like that? Or rather, what are you going to do when she does?

Shake my head & walk away.

All you can do is warn them and inform and hope for the best I guess

Well, she's a good kid, but the impulsiveness (and defiance) or this decision doesn't fill me with confidence. It doesn't appear she's posted any pictures on her facebook page, which also tells me something...

Actually it's not and that wouldn't stop her anyway if it was. I think she's already regretting it...

I've seen some wicked ass tattoos. The moon phases isn't one of them.

I've told my kids its a mistake to get one when you're 18 because you've haven't done anything that is your identity yet. Just think if you decided you wanted a tattoo when you were 10 and you got a power ranger - and then how stupid you'd feel with it now at 18. I think they understand but you never know.

I designed mine myself. Most of you know my music background. My kids have the same bug.

Sorry it's so big. I don't feel like searching for a smaller version right now.

My son just graduated from high school and will be headed off to college in the fall. He still does some things that make you question his ability to be leaving the house. What makes matters worse is that he will be only 17 when he starts college (His birthday is late Sept). But, you know, we stupid shit, too, at that age. That's how they learn.

With regards to the tattoo situation, you are doing the right thing. I am guessing she has heard from her older sister that the tattoo is hideous and she is scarred for life and what a stupid thing to do. Even though outwardly she may seem defiant to them, inwardly, they cut to her heart. I don't think you can do anything more to add to life's instruction of the moment.

I bought tickets to see Maroon 5 in August. Also has Kelly Clarkson who has pretty decent music too. I really like her song "Walk Away"

I like that tat. Self-designed with personal meaning. Same reason even the MIF wasn't pissed when she went out and got the hummingbird. I am sensing that she is already regretting this. She didn't balk or reject when her mom started talking about laser removal...

That's what I figured she'd look into. The skin still looks funny but better than an ugly tat.
