Breaking with two centuries of political tradition, Donald Trump didn't ask Americans to place their faith in each other or God but, rather, in Trump.

better he should ask them to put their faith in politicians?

There is no way one guy is going to get anything done in Washington. It's a romantic notion, but they're all politicians up there, they're not going to allow some outsider to come in and tell them what's what. Even presidents with strong party affiliation can hardly get anything done due to the pushback from the opposing party congressional members. But come to think of it, having Trump as president might do more to unite the repubs and dems than anybody else possibly could. There would be so much bipartisan compromise to keep anything Trump proposed from happening, he might be the greatest uniter of all time...

or you might see what happened to Paul Ryan - where he stands up for what positions he believes is in the best interest of the GOPe while disregarding the positions of his voting base - and Trump lets them know it.

The appeal of Trump and what he is capable of has been underestimated and ridiculed since he started - and several career politicians are now much worse off for having done so.

At the same time, look at how desperate Stephen Colbert is right now to get an audience pushing a liberal agenda on a mainstream network.

I never watch it...but none of them are that good, to me. Fallon has the best gimmicks, but his "I'm think everything you say is awesome!" schtick is tiring.
