Ladies and gentlemen, I'll be brief. The issue here is not whether Sterling broke a few rules, or took a few liberties with some young chickāhe did. But you can't hold a whole franchise responsible for the behavior of a sick perverted individual. For if you do, then shouldn't we blame the whole franchise system? And if the whole franchise system is guilty, then isn't this an indictment of our sports institutions in general? I put it to you, Silver: isn't this an indictment of our entire American society? Well, you can do what you want to Sterling, but I'm not going to sit here and listen to you badmouth the United States of America. Gentlemen!

I'm sure the NAACP is going to give all that money back as a sign of protest
I'm sorry, I can see the guy taking a hit for being a closet racist, but I can't get over everyone saying they knew this guy was a racist all along and the NAACP giving him awards .
Have some damn integrity.

Great look back at '84 Olympic trials and pre-superstar Jordan

Sort of like the time Hedge accosted Jordan, who had just played 2 NBA seasons, for his autograph on Franklin St.

Yep, the NAACP got exposed (at least that chapter) as a pay for play entity...like many non-profits are, sadly.
Yes, having Antoni go away is a beauty. I'll still never forgive Jim Buss and Mitch Kupchak for dissing Phil Jackson.

kinda sounding like magic is a little bitch. kobe plays what 10 games? lost howard, gasol is brokekneed mountain and everybody blames d'antonio
amazes m,e if the pacers lose tonight they would fire vogel. give the heat all they could ask for last year, get the #1 seed this year and granted probalby epic fail tonight but still --the lakers might pounce on that opportunity

Those factors are what kept D'Antoni in the job as long as he has had it (mind you, LA told him they were keeping him next year, they just refused to pick up his option for the following year...then he quit). The thing is Howard would not have left, most likely, if D'Antoni was not the coach. He definitely would have stayed around if Phil was there. Kobe started signaling that he was not a fan of the Antoni style, too.
The other thing, in addition to all the other shit I just typed, management was losing confidence in him because he was not mindful of the small things...and when your team sucks, the highest paid players on the team aren't fans and the general public would put your head on a steak, you better show that everything matters to you (e.g. implications of winning or losing some games, answering questions appropriately, etc.).

D'Antoni got lucky early on his coaching career with the Suns which will forever make him one of those retread coaching hires in the league. he's a modern day Dick Motta.
