we've had 5 cops killed in this area the last two years all by gunfire -3 by Hispanic shooter, 1 white and 1 black copkiller

no incidents of unarmed questionable shootings by cops in my area
I'm not following the point. I don't know who correlates the instances of police shootings with the instances of shootings of unarmed civilians (let alone, unarmed black civilians), but I surely am not. I do think that training needs to be increased (sadly, Dallas was doing a great job at it) and an increase in diversity among police ranks are key, but not the end solution. Ask any kid who grew up in LA during the 80s and 90s. Black cops were just as bad, if not worse, than the white cops. There is a true culture problem in the force that needs to be addressing...and it won't be easy or quick.

As someone with a special needs child (who is also male and black), it has shook my wife to the core. She was the first person to send me the article but I doubt she will ever talk about it. If she ever does, all I will do is just listen to an uncontrollably sobbing woman and try to get her back to a stable mental space where she can have faith that things can be alright.

I've spent more times than I care to have experienced with my hands on the back of cruisers or knees down on the concrete, or chest down on the concrete...all without breaking a single crime. I consider myself lucky, because I have friends who have fared worse. All through that, I don't harbor even a fraction of the amount of fear and anger my suburban born and raised wife does...and she may not have even ever had a speeding ticket. This Miami incident has surely put her in an even unhealthier place.

I've been able to understand all of them until this one.

I don't know the story or have watched any video but for the life of me I can't figure out why even have a gun drawn on a guy with a toy.

They thought it was a gun and were too scared to get close enough to see for sure, so they did what all cops do when in doubt if their lives are in danger: they started shooting and asked questions later.

If you look at the video, the toy truck is white. I don't see in any way it can be mistaken for a gun. I don't see how they can say they shot 3 times and missed the autistic man and in the video, the therapist on the ground is telling the police that it is a toy truck. The problem with the video is that it doesn't show the actual shot.

So after the shooting in Baton Rouge, some of my students were really angry (I'm teaching Constitutional Law this summer). I told them if they were going to go to the protest to look out for knuckleheads because there are always a few. I also told them one day to get the anger out but if there are no concrete proposals, they should leave. I also gave them an assignment to figure out how to defend the policeman. (Turns out one of my students works for attorneys who will defend the policeman).

I was in Durham after the Rodney King verdict, I was just livid, especially after my boss said something stupid. I went looking for a protest, just to get the anger out. Instead of finding one, a small church was selling chicken dinners from their pit. Buying and eating the dinner mollified my anger.

So, you were mad after Rodney King, wanted to protest, but settled down after you ate chicken?

Not touching that at all.

Finally a story that will sufficiently get white people pissed off.

Hillary has nothing to worry about. The Bernie supporters are just like the leftist Occupy Wall Street rabble who were too lazy to follow through on protests. They will fall in line like sheep when they realize they will need Hillary to pay off their student loans.

I'm not sure how she kept a straight face saying she was neutral on this anyways. Bernie just didn't want to go all Donald Trump on her.
