N&O reporting that UNC has fired the neuropsychologist who's spent years diagnosing their players with learning disabilities.

The university has not released a statement saying why they cancelled the $50k/year contract.

Of coincidence, this is the neuropsychologist who administered the exams used in assessing athletes' literacy.

if you read into any of this stuff, this morning on the Dan Patrick show Cal said he thinks fewer than 5 of his guy will go pro which has most UK fans who are keeping up with it thinking its Randle, Young and the Twins

meaning Stein, Johnson, Lee and Poythress return

Poythress could be a monster next year.

Stein is one I'm scratching my head about if it plays out like I said- our frontcourt is going to be deep -too deep really, and he lost his starting spot to Johnson at the end of the season.

If you're 7 foot and will be drafted, you go.

The twins are the ones who should think it over... both could be top 20 pick next season... late first rounder and early second rounder for them now. Huge mistake if they declare which I'm sure they will... and I'm sure Calipari is urging them to declare to bolster his huge ego and reputation of sending X number of players to the NBA.... Stein will be a D league project. Randle and Young are no brainers. The rest should reconsider.

I don't think either should go and maybe they won't - Cal just said he thinks its less than 5, but didn't mention any names.

Poythress seems like he would be a lottery pick, based on seeing him in the tourney. Also, Johnson, Lee and Stein would all be drafted without question.

I agree that the twins are the ones who would benefit from staying in school but that doesn't mean they feel that way.

Randle should be the No. 1 pick, regardless of what Parker does.

Randle is going to end up being a good pro, and he'll probably be alright even next year, but he's going to have some growing pains in the league. Plenty of veteran 6'10" power forwards are going to be giving him a welcome that he's probably not going to like. But a few years in the league and he'll be the one giving that kind of welcome to the next stud teenager coming in...

Stein did announce he was coming back late this afternoon.

that's a head scratcher for me but I'll take it.

Parker will get abused on D and Randle will struggle on O, at times, early on. At the end of the day, though, I think both Parker and Randle will be All Stars during their careers. I see Randle as a perennial 20/10 guy for the next decade, but he won't be the cornerstone player...which is not a dig.

I still dont get why Cal did not call his number more a couple Mondays ago.

Agreed. Randle is a beast but he's not versatile enough to be the Franchise. He should be able to make plenty of all-star teams though.

I think the knock on Randle is he is easily scoutable. He goes to the left, even with a spin move and anytime he puts the ball below his chest its a possible turnover.

That said, he makes circus shot after circus shot

It would seem Dakari Johnson is pushing to go pro - maybe because our frontcourt is stacked now with the return of WCS. Supposedly his family is giving him mixed signals but he has stated to Cal earlier that "he's built for the NBA" and assumes he can improve when he gets there.

The twins are facing pressure internally to stay, and their family doesn't seem to be pushing them for economic reasons being they are from a working class two parent household, so that may work in our favor.

I said I could see him as an Elton Brand type of player during his senior year in high school...

He doesn't seem to have the brute power of Brand, but he's longer and more fluid. Still, a 20/10 guy like that, however he gets it, is going to end up making a couple hundred million over the next decade. Probably more than that the way these pro salaries keep going up...
