Tickled slap to death. Except Crotch. He was hoping they'd lose much earlier so he could marinate another year in the sour schteeeeewwww of his hatred for Cal. Force himself like a contortionist into a 12 gallon pickle jar, get a snorkel and have his goodwife fill the vessel (yea, to the brim) with country vinegar and put him up on the shelf for another year...

I don't think there's really such a thing as country vinegar, but it seemed like the right thing to say...

perhaps one of the strangest things I've read on here, but it cracked me up

The NCAA isn't a government entity. It is a private organization. What can the federal government make them do?

I hope that Congressman burns in hell with Mary Willingham, Jay Smith and all of the other smug, self-serving pricks who are equally culpable for using athletes for their own personal gain. The university makes money off of the kids athletic performance, and those assholes are trying to turn a dollar off of the kids to sell their books, further their careers, etc.

Heh, tbh, I really didn't think Kentucky would get past Louieville. All my predictions in the tourney were based on my recently repaired crystal ball. You'd know it'd have to finally be correct during the championship game. Getting on eBay and seeing if I can purchase an new one... can no longer depend on an outdated model that runs on 4 'D' cell batteries.

Does the NCAA get antitrust protection?

honestly I don't think anything will come from it but I do appreciate that its not just NC St, Duke and UK fans that see the obvious free pass that UNC is getting from the NCAA.

If a Congressman wants to call Emmert and discuss why they penalized a state and federally funded Penn St and not UNC, I'm all for it.

I still don't see how UNC broke a rule. They violated the spirit of the rule if they were sending kids thru school by picking their classes and majors and not requiring them to go to class and still graduating them. But the rule is you must graduate 50% to stay eligible and UNC, by means of their own choosing, graduated more than the minimum.

I agree with you that it sold out its academic integrity for athletics, i.e., money but I can't see where UNC violated any NCAA rules by doing that.

Did he really say "Succeed and Proceed"?

you don't see how they broke a rule because they graduated 50% of their players?

seriously?

I mean in that case, I don't see how Eric Manuel broke the rule because Sean Sutton took his ACT test. I mean, he got a 21 on it.

Seriously. even on Real Sports they said that what UNC was accused of doing wasn't violating NCAA rules, only that was cheating the kids from a chance at an education.

I'm not saying I agree with what UNC has done, but I've never seen a specific rule that was broken. The Manuel thing came admission standards were much higher and specific rules were in place.

I'm actually envious of you BRM, the first few days of the off season are so hard. You got yours out of the way...what? a month ago?

1 that Congressman is upset at the NCAA because USC got shat on for Reggie Bush, but UNC gets nothing

2 seriously, how many shots did Randle take in the game? That was Cal's big mistake. He played well and was never rewarded

Apparently the 40-0 t-shirt didn't fit Dirk. Those kids in Africa I am sure are enjoying them.

I'm getting tired of having to carry the water for Augie here...

N&O reporting that UNC has fired the neuropsychologist who's spent years diagnosing their players with learning disabilities.

The university has not released a statement saying why they cancelled the $50k/year contract.

Of coincidence, this is the neuropsychologist who administered the exams used in assessing athletes' literacy.
