Yeah, FSU's defensive line is pushing Auburn around and back just a bit. It's not bad but Auburn needs to pick it up a notch.

Damn. Auburn's LBs are impressively fast. They closed that hole Winston was running through. Fast and hard.

Oh smack me on the fanny and call me Annie. I just saw a face on TV that just sent a wave of emotion through me as I flat out forgot something: Randy Sanders is FSU's QB coach.

Before the game, I said defenses tend to cheat up their secondary to try to stop our run, and leave our receivers wide open. That's already happened twice. I also said our receivers tend to drop the ball. That happened once.

FSU better figure out a way to stop Auburn or they will be in trouble bad (which I tend to think they are anyway...).
It's just now coming up to the halfway point in the second quarter. The second quarter. FSU's defense is already huffing and puffing while walking around with their hands on their hips.
If Auburn runs two or three drives in a row just like the drive they just did, FSU won't have a prayer.

They stopped the clock too many times on that drive. Could have been down to 4 minutes left instead of 8. And as I type this Winston coughs up the ball.

FSU better stay on the field next drive to help their defense rest while getting some points on the board prior to the half or this game is over.
A quick strike by FSU here maybe the worst thing that can happen to them. A long offensive drive.

18 points will not be a safe lead with 5 minutes left in the 4th, let alone the 2nd.

Hats off to Auburn. Played an outstanding first half. Can't relax though...it was starting to look like Winston & FSU were finally settling down a bit

Nah, FSU kicked their effort on offense up a notch.
We'll have to see if FSU can keep that effort and tempo up for the second half. If so, can Auburn's defense adjust?

For Auburn to win, four things must happen:
1. We must contain and pressure Winston for 4 quarters. (It would help a lot if he falls victim to the Heisman curse, and has a rotten game all by himself, but we can't count on that.)
2. We must be able run consistently, often against 8-9 man fronts. Even though we are a pure run offense, we usually score quickly. But on Monday we need to sustain long drives, and keep Winston off the field as much as possible.
3. We must keep the game close into the 4th quarter, where the pressure and stakes are extremely high. Under that kind of pressure we have consistently thrived, whereas that is uncharted territory for FSU. Maybe the Noles can handle it, maybe they can't.
4. Nick Marshall needs to be able to throw a lot more often than he has all season, and our receivers need to quit dropping and make catches in crucial situations against superb DB's. That has not been a proven skill for us.
At halftime:
1. Halfway there.
2. Check.
3. Check.
4. Other than that one dropped, wide open, sure TD pass, check.
But this game is far from over.
