43,000 for the Bengal home opener. 25,000 empty seats. It will be 50,000 by November. What a sorry miserable excuse for an NFL franchise. A discrace and an embarrassment to this wonderful city.

43k sold. From what I hear 10k of those didn't show.

why not just get rid of conferences altogether for football? Or just have the Big 64 and leave the others left to their own devices? what I say makes sense, dammit!

the only reason I'd want the big 4 is because they'd have the power to tell the NCAA to go fuck themselves.

I realize that is going to open pandora's box but for programs that have the fan base to support a team, it gets them an advantage.

I guess Penn State shouldn't feel too ashamed about the squeak by win over Temple last week?

or maybe they still should...

If the Colts had ANY type of QB last night, they beat the Steelers by 2 TDs.

And Troy Long Hair is a beast. That is all.

I'm relatively certain half the SEC could beat any one of Seattle, Arizona, San Francisco, and St. Louis right now.

No way were 43K at that game. The number of fans there would all have fit into the lower bowl comfortably.

The Bengals should just move the rest of their home games to Nippert for the season. Meanwhile Hamilton County can schedule dog shows, religious revivals, international soccer friendlies, or any other event that might draw a larger crowd than Bengals football.

The Colts defense (well two guys anyway) were shredding PIttsburgh. That was a fun game.

Long Hair was as beast but hell, they never put anyone on him at the line.

Yeah it would have nice to at least try to block him at some point.

This article is almost, verbatim, my synopsis of Locksley and UNM's decision to hire him. The fact that it took such a ridiculous off-the-field incident to finally bring the hammer down is just as much an indictment of UNM's program as it is Locksley himself. K-State's former HC, Ron What's-His-Name, had much more success with fewer off-the-field problems and was still fired for not being good enough. Maryland just canned Friedgen despite ten years-plus of quality football at Maryland, including an Orange Bowl berth. UNM needs to get serious, like Rocky Long said upon his departure. This hire reeked of indifference. Granted, it's a MWC school with not much notoriety but damn, man...

To wit, there aren't many former Zook assistants I'd be killing myself to hire in the first place, especially if I'm trying to turn a program around. Hell, people are still trying to figure out why Ron Zook himself has been able to stay at Illinois so long, despite just one good season in six years with the rest being either really bad or painfully medicore. Oh well. Zook happens, obviously.

Also, if I were Locksley, I'd punch my son in the teeth for being friends with such an utter moron.

Curtis Painter might be the worst NFL QB I've seen since Babe Laufenberg.

Apparently you haven't watched Collins for the first 11 quarters of Colts football.
