Trump is not cash rich. I don't know if I would call him broke.

That isn't a bad thought. You should have been hired as riot coordinator, instead of whoever it was.

I sure wouldn't have advised them to burn down the liquor store

dayum....that's gotta be rioting 101

maybe they looted it..I can't remember.

I'd support that

Yeah, even if they burned it down...it was only after the looting. Groupthink prioritizes the dranky drank.

Brexit vote is tomorrow. This video is prejudiced toward the leave group, but the first 15 minutes has a good explanation of how beaurocratic the EU is. I can't imagine any citizen signing up for this unless they are getting paid by the EU. Which could be many.

I just wonder if all the economic doom and gloom is factual in regards to the aftermath of them leaving.

listening to Paul Ryan this morning talk about some 37 page health care alternative plan he's rolling out

In it he talks about tax credits for health care.

This is where republicans really miss the boat in my opinion.

Admittedly I don't know the details, but the real issue with Obamacare is with two groups. The people that are mandated to get health care but are not subsidized at all or enough for it so that mandated health care is a huge hit to them, and the people that had health care before Obamacare that have seen it turn to a steaming pile of shit because of the costs and what not.

So I am assuming that Ryan will roll out a plan that either rejects mandated health care, or even if it still requires it and attempts to offset the cost of health care with some tax credit.

But you can bet there won't be any tax relief for people who get employer supplied health care because its already subsidized in the eyes of the government - nevermind its the government that has totally fucked the value of their health care to begin with. And for the families pulling in say $75K a year or less, tax credits don't mean shit to them - its not money in their pocket. Adding tax credits to an already convoluted tax code is just some added headache that translates to them spending $5K to $10K in health care they didn't have to spend 6 years ago only to see $1K in a refund or less in taxes paid.

I've said this before, if our government (in this case republicans) is serious about making health care affordable then they need to put their money where their mouth is - make every dime we spend on health care - from aspirin to open heart surgery 1:1 tax deductible

and then you'll see how serious our government will get about reigning in health care costs. When I claim $7K in health care costs for just general health care wellness and that comes off a $28K tax burden and they can't buy a new Zumwalt class destroyer for the Navy, shit will get real.

Northern, industrial (read: those that have suffered mightily under Thatcher, New Labour and Cameron) cities like Liverpool have really benefitted from the EU. The ECHO had a great piece showing the benefits that are directly attributed to the EU, but that won't stop the masses from voting to exit.

Thank God for NATO. If it wasn't for NATO, the dissolution of the EU would result in 2040 Europe looking a lot like Pre-EU Europe (i.e. constantly shifting rivalries/alliances).

I don't think Brexit is happening, personally. It is Y2K (as far as the concern vs the impact) or Scottish Sovereignty (as far as fear of exit, but not happening). I could be wrong, but that's my call.

The odds makers side with you.

To me, it would be more than just economics. I didn't realize how much democracy you give up by being an EU member.

I really didn't either...sounds like a bureaucratic hell hole. With that said, my assessments are solely speaking from an American perspective. The EU may fuck with the British citizenry and hurt farmers, laborers, their national healthcare system and their monetary policy. The vid was interesting but I never dug too much into whether it was good for the British common folk, or not...because I'm an American and (fair or foul) I don't give a shit about British common folk. I was wondering how it will impact my life/business and I don't think it will. It's already pretty priced in. I'm good. Currency markets would go places I can't predict (so there is an arbitrage play available with Sterling... but I will leave that up to the macro egg heads), but otherwise I've completed my hand wringing over the vote.

Scottish Sovereignty will happen eventually. Just like Northern Ireleand, the populace is trending in that direction as it grows and shifts.
