Why is the current administration so scared to call it what it is??? I mean seriously. Dude calls 911 and says I love ISIS.

Nope, hate crime. Nothing to see here.

This is why I hope Trump wins. Blow up the entire fucking system. Chaos brings change. Please let it happen.

Call it whatever you like. Terrorist attack, "Isis-comes-to-America attack," muslims vs the U.S. Radical Islamic murder.

Nut-with-a gun applies to a broader demographic, for sure.

there is no doubt there is the nut with a gun issue in this country

but when we start lumping in someone who is either externally radicalized or self radicalized as a terrorist into another agenda - this is about people being able to purchase assault rifles or this is about people not being able to piss where they want to - and deviate away from the issue, then we are intentionally - and I chose that word carefully - moving away from a serious problem in this country right now.

the issue being that people who identify with a certain religion develop an anti-American slant and it leads to attacks on innocent Americans. I no longer believe that Muslims practice a religion of peace. Yes, the vast majority of Muslims may be peaceful but their religion has been hijacked by significant numbers that violence stemming from them is not an anomaly. Its a huge difference between an baptist abortion clinic bomber and Radical Islamist. Unfortunately because the terrorist has little regard for his or her own life, they are much more effective at carrying out lethal attacks in mass numbers.

there isn't any amount of gun control that is going to change that narrative.

its the same with mental illness. Taking away a gun from someone who is mentally unstable doesn't change that he/she is mentally unstable. I would hope the goal is to prevent their ability to harm *any* person, not just mass numbers of them. This idea that making guns harder to get is this solution which allows us to ignore mental illness, drug addiction and now radicalization as issues in this country - and honestly its about spending money or encroaching civil rights to address those issues in an manner that is effective.

the irony is we want to take away the one tool from the hands of responsible people that could stop the actions of an unstable person in those 3 - 7 minutes before police arrive.

Locking down guns means that Matteem whatever would have driven a fertilizer bomb to the front of that club and leveled an entire city block. He was highly motivated.

if he had blown up a Wendy's, we would have heard about how he hated day old chili and downloaded chili recipes off the internet.

Meh. I still look at our policies to focus my criticism. Rhetoric is only valuable to me in the absence of policy.

" Its a huge difference between an baptist abortion clinic bomber and Radical Islamist."

How so? I don't see any difference at all...

individually I'd say none

percentage wise as in number of acts committed., there is no comparison

Well, it's taken a few centuries for the normal folks in this country to tamp down the christians, we're not going to normalize the muslims overnight (and will never normalize some of them, just as in the case with the christians). But with modern technology, it shouldn't take quite as long. We are on the right side of history, they are not...

You mean during the crusades? I was speaking of a more effective method that I referred to as sex, drugs and rock and roll the other day. That has worked pretty well with the christians, but again, it took a few hundred years and obviously some of them will never be turned, but for the most part they're now docile and know their place. The same with happen with the muslims. Maybe not in our lifetime, but they won't be able to resist in the long run. Our way is just better, and getting better all the time. It is remarkable seeing as our country was founded by embittered puritans chewing on stale bread and thinking that's the way life is supposed to be, but here we are now with iPhones and free porn and pot soon to be legalized in every state. Amazing, isn't it?

We thought we had normalized the Catholics too but Tim McVeigh still blew up a federal building. And he's still the U.S. homegrown terrorist record holder...168 dead.
