Once you get to the higher echelons of minor league ball, AAA and such, the pay is pretty good (minimum is $2150 but most make 2-4x that much) but the guy I referenced earlier bounced around rookie league/single-A for 7 or 8 seasons. He got a 6 figure signing bonus even though he was a low round draftee but baseball never made him rich.

I'm going to be taking my middle son and his friend to the game after all - should be fun. We weren't sure of the exact schedule in Ft. Myers but we'll be done before noon and after heading back to the hotel to clean up, we should make it back to GA by 10 or 11pm (if traffic isn't as bad as it was on the way down).

My eldest isn't really impressing anyone at the showcase this week. He has elite speed but has not been staying in shape at all, so his 60 time was disappointing (still finished in the Top 30 of 700+ kids but should have been Top 10). And his hitting has been disappointing as well. Hopefully this will be a wakeup call that hard work > raw talent and will begin to dedicate himself more.

Bowls are great fun with the kids.

True, though we won't be able to enjoy the extra activities that are a lot of fun. I am driving back home late the previous night, and then the game starts at noon. I took my youngest who was a UGA fan at the time to the UGA/Nebraska Capital One bowl 3 years ago. All the pre-game activities were as enjoyable as the game itself.

Yep. One of my best bowls, believe it or not,, was the Independence Bowl against Iowa State. I was treated like a rockstar

Just when I thought Maguire was becoming a serviceable QB...yesterday happens. My dear GOD he was awful. Statistically he was OK until he got hurt, but he still missed wide open receivers consistently and was bailed out by a pretty bad UH pass defense. And with the trouble the OL was having getting any push, I was disappointed that Fisher didn't have more screen passes called to get Cook in space. On the surface it looks like the defense struggled but they really did a good job for the most part - but Maguire's turnovers put the defense on the field constantly. UH ran 99 plays - ugh.

Henry may end up being a great one but there's no way he'll start on day one next year. I just really, really hope the insiders are right and Francois is going to take the reins.

Pretty much agree with this - outcoached and outplayed.

Tough for fans to get up for playing Houston at noon - players and coaches can say what they want but you know they felt this way too.

I was glad we got Notre Dame and not Houston...playing them is a no-win scenario. No one will give you any credit if you win and you'll be laughed at if you lose. Plus Herman is a great coach

Another great class by Fisher and crew - this may be the best top-to-bottom he's had. 17 4-star's? Wow.

And another disappointing class for the school out east.
