Carolina's leadership wants out of the ACC....

Well, the fucked up world of North Carolina politics is here to intervene and fuck things up as usual.

UNC has a Board of Trustees, and the entire system is governed by the UNC Board of Governors. The BOG has the real power and calls the big shots whereas the BOT is more of an advise and consent type body with day-to-day admin responsibilities.

In the never-ending power struggle between the right wing legislature (especially Berger and the state senate) and the governor (Democrat Roy Cooper), the legislature stripped the governor's ability to point some of the boards and made all of the appointments senate and house appointments instead of those entities only having part of the appointments.

The right wing has always hated UNC as a general rule, and the small parts of the right wing that do have some affinity for UNC want to reshape the institution completely (see Pope, Art). Now, the right wing elements have appointed stooges to the BOG and BOT. The BOG is controlled and led by NC State stooges who are major donors to the GOP and do as told by Phil Berger (senate's president pro tem), and they have been trying to screw Carolina at every step. Heck, a prime example of the right wing stooges' skull duggery was when the right wing's Carolina-hating-stooges tried to stop Larry Fedora's extension (BOG has to approve such contracts) after the 11 win 2015 season. The current chancellor -- who was handpicked by the GOP's stooges -- is so sick and tired of the GOP's stooges on the BOG and BOT doing/saying stupid shit and attempting to micromanage that he is about to take the head job at the dumpster fire that is Michigan State, a place that has had five or six different heads in as many years with scandals to match. The only good thing that the GOP BOT has done without fucking up (so far) is that they are being proactive on expansion and want to leave the ACC, and the current chancellor isn't thrilled with the idea of leaving the ACC (that being really the only major issue with his tenure in the eyes of most folks who have any idea what is happening). These dipshits want to tie State to Carolina like the Virginia legislature tied VT and UVa together 20 years ago during ACC expansion to force VT into the ACC (the original plan was Syracuse, BC and Miami). If that's the case, Carolina is fucked most likely because the P2 conferences could go to their next option (or stand pat) instead of taking on that dead weight in Raleigh (yes, they may own UNC in football as of late, but that brand is limited to the confines of this state and being in a far distant second or third at best).

These folks tried to nail Carolina over the NCAA mess / tutor and paper class crap but couldn't, and they're still pissed about that.

The GOP's hatred of UNC is fueled by two things:
1) First and foremost, UNC has been the traditional epicenter of North Carolina liberalism / progressive politics, but it should be noted that said influence / role has diminished a good bit imho. Conservatives have been railing against Carolina because of this for over a century (even when this was a "one party state" there was a constant battle between the conservative and liberal/progressive factions).
2) Much of the GOP's legislative leadership has been made up of non-natives those who moved to NC (moves that would have never occurred had Democrats like Terry Sanford and Jim Hunt not helped make this state what it is today), and so apart from having no ties to the school and appreciation for its role in the state's ascent, these folks tend to view Carolina as the "establishment" that they want to destroy.

It's going to be a nightmare if these assholes keep it up.

Sometimes I read posts like that and it makes me wonder if all of politics through history is all driven mainly the deranged paranoid conspiracy theories of madmen.

You know the girl who is so hot, she is a 9 on a bad day? She's the one who has 3 boyfriends (but they don't know about each other) and she doesn't have to work because they just give her money and things to live? She is always so "busy" that her 3 boyfriends have to plan their dates with her weeks in advance (dates where they spend God awful amounts of money on her) because she never has the time? The one where a man would stab his best friend in the back for the opportunity to put his dick into this girl? That girl is the SEC.

The SEC needs to INVITE you in. Without an invite, you are going nowhere, certainly not into the SEC's vagina. And even if she lets you in, you may have to cut a deal with her the way SMU cut its deal with the ACC.

in the next 5 years the SEC might have their own 4 team playoff system.

Its killer now. Honestly, UK could have a very good team next year and not win a single game.

You’re further illuminating your ignorance. Maybe we should just have the CFP committee get a spreadsheet of the rosters of every FBS team and simply hand out all 12 playoff spots to the teams who recruited the most 4-star and 5-star players out of high school and be done with it? I mean, why not? That will give the SEC all the playoff spots they want. They took away a spot from an undefeated power-5 champion simply because one of their players broke his leg. If they are using that as a metric for the most deserving teams, then the subjectivity of how badly you beat an opponent or the number of stars your players get on Rivals is just as meaningful.

Nifong didn't work for Duke. He worked for the black democrat voters of the county, black democrats who would have "primaried-him-out" in November of 2006 if he didn't wrongfully charge 3 innocent boys of raping a black girl suffering from borderline personality disorder. And what was Nifong's motive? He wanted to double his county retirement pension by being re-elected for one more term.

That is the democrat party of North Carolina DS. You guys are so ignorant, you put politics ahead of basic criminal justice. Fuck you.

Next year is a one-off eight game schedule and they are going to reevaluate going to 9 games for 2025. The two options seem to be either 8 games with 7 rotating and one protected rivalry (basically what next year is) or 9 games with 6 rotating and 3 protected rivalry games. There are no longer any pods or divisions so what will happen is that Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Missouri will all go 7-1 and therfore Alabama will make the conference championship game.

With Alabama reveling in its SEC championship game victory over Georgia, which saw it leap from eighth to fourth in the final College Football Playoff rankings, its quarterback room had some movement Monday with the news that redshirt sophomore quarterback Tyler Buchner has entered the transfer portal as a lacrosse player.

Buchner, who transferred to the Crimson Tide last offseason from Notre Dame, where he played in three games in 2022, played lacrosse at The Bishop's School (La Jolla, California), according to his Alabama bio.

He was considered one of the top lacrosse recruits in the country while in high school. Buchner A source close to Buchner told ESPN's Pete Thamel that Buchner is expected to explore his lacrosse options this spring. He was considered one of the top lacrosse recruits in the country while in high school. He hasn't ruled out a return to football, but he's expected to explore lacrosse in the immediate future.
