Ok, so Syria will agree to hand over their chemical weapons in exchange for us letting him continue to slaughter Islamists in a more conventional way....I can live with that.

So lets get this straight. Its ok to kill thousands of women & children with conventional weapons but once a few of the total are gassed, game on? It's not that hard to get straight. Conventional weapons are just that - the word conventional means 'based on or in accordance with accepted standards.' Whereas poison is unconventional and patently criminal. The nerve agent Sarin is particularly ghastly by all accounts...muscle failure, the lungs quit, extreme vomiting and seizures, then the victim drowns in their own fluids. When surely there is a big difference..

Yes, Assad is making this deal out of fear. Not of Obama, but of Russia, their main supplier of weapons. Putin did Assad a great favor, put the USA in a box where they will be agreeing to leave Assad alone in attacking his own people as long as he doesn't have chemical weapons. Putin has agreed to send more weapons to Syria to fight against the rebels who are basically fucked and all USA can do is watch because that's what will be agreed.
