I also like how people are shocked and surprised that when you have more major conferences than slots and each conference also has a fuckload of teams that its hard to pick just four. No shit?

Oh we cant fuck over the Shreveport chamber of commerce by expanding the playoffs! Whos gonna care about the weeeeedeater booooowl!?

I am perfectly fine with eliminating all bowl games with the exception of the 12 playoff games. Keep:
  • Fiesta
  • Rose
  • Sugar
  • Orange
  • Cotton
  • Peach/Chick-fil-A/whatever
  • Some bowl in Orlando
  • some bowl in Las Vegas
  • some bowl in Houston
  • some bowl in Santa Clara
  • and a game in Jerry World in Dallas
that's it

Santa Clara, Houston, Orlando, and Las Vegas get the 4 preliminary games each year, nothing else. They will be satisfied with that.
remaining 7 rotate the quarter-finals, semis, and championship, every 7 years.

fuck every other team. fuck every other chamber of commerce. nobody goes to those games anyway.

Bowl games aren't playoff games. Cut the charade. Kill the bowls and the army of red-faced old men in blazers that goes with them.

"math" believes it. Adding up all the wins and losses for all the teams FSU faced over the season, mathematically, their schedule is 3rd strongest in the nation.

"math" >>>>>> me

whoops, I was wrong about FSU. SOR rank was #3. SOS was #55.

oh well. If that is the case, then maybe the committee got it correct? Oh well, its over.

Georgia is the best team. They said it was about the best 4 teams, the 4 most deserving. College football strikes again! At least some traditions endure...

Mike Norvell wrote:I am disgusted and infuriated with the committee’s decision today to have what was earned on the field taken away because a small group of people decided they knew better than the results of the games. What is the point of playing games? Do you tell players it is okay to quit if someone goes down? Do you not play a senior on Senior Day for fear of injury? Where is the motivation to schedule challenging non-conference games? We are not only an undefeated P5 conference champion, but we also played two P5 non-conference games away from home and won both of them. I don’t understand how we are supposed to think this is an acceptable way to evaluate a team.

I’m hurting for our players who have displayed a tremendous amount of resilience and response this season. What happened today goes against everything that is true and right in college football. A team that overcame tremendous adversity and found a way to win doing whatever it took on the field was cheated today. It’s a sad day for college football.

I’m proud of the work we have put in and the players I have the privilege to coach. We have one more opportunity to define this 2023 team in the Orange Bowl, and I believe in how our team will respond.

The best 4 teams are Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. Georgia got screwed.

You can't penalize West Coast teams that play games so late into the evening that you can't stay up late enough to watch them.

The fewer slots there are the more they just pick the teams they want and figure out the rationale later.

The logic used to eliminate FSU from the playoffs would be the same logic used to eliminate them even if Georgia had won. The SEC championship was meaningless for FSU. Georgia wins, Texas is the #4. Basically, the only way FSU gets into the playoffs is if Iowa, Oklahoma State, or Oregon wins. And in reality, its only if Iowa or Oklahoma State wins because Oregon would have leap frogged a 13-0 FSU and the Ducks are in the playoffs!

Talk about mission impossible. The ACC Championship was virtually meaningless.
