my wife had my daughter on the pill before she was 16

they told me it was to control her periods

I laughed and I laughed

and then chose not to think about it

luckily she was always career>boys

now that she has the career the "boys" she just picks through for her entertainment

I have a 17 year old boy and a 14 year old girl and, I swear, between all the school work and sports these kids are involved in, I don't see where they have time to get in trouble. My 17 year old has his own car and just about only uses it to get to school and practices. We had a ton more free time to get in trouble when I was a teen.

She's almost 18. It's her sass and attitude that bug me more than her drinking and fucking. She's already throwing that "when I'm 18, I can do whatever I want" bullshit out there, I'm like "sure you can, and you can buy your own car, pay for your own gas, food and phone, too". She doesn't like that...

Its a hit to the gut when you realize your kid doesn't like you because you have to be the parent and he has to be the fuck up

As much shit as I talked about him we had a great relationship up until about 4 months ago. Now he barely speaks to me.

We didn't have any problems at all with the older girl, almost to the point that I was getting pissed off at her for being such a goody-goody. Even when she was a senior, we knew we could leave them both at home over the weekend b/c the older one would tell on the younger one if she did anything wrong. Some of the MIF's friends who have boys said the same thing eCat is relating, i.e., that they get very surly around 14. But most of them say that once the hormones even out a little (by the time they're 15 or so) they start getting somewhat normal again...

oh well I'm sure its nothing 100 million parents haven't gone thru in the last 20 years.

I'll be waiting for him when he decides to become normal again. ....and then I'll kick his ass for causing me all this grief.

The venom spewing out of the mouth of the 14 year old girl toward her mother is both shocking and admirable at the same time. I wish I could get away with saying some of the stuff she says to ehr.

last night my wife was like "you don't think he'd hurt himself for us punishing him do you?" I was like "hell, I'm scared he's gonna hurt me! I'm sleeping with one eye open now"

his punishment is no electronics - no xbox, facebook, youtube, etc - the computer only goes to stuff he needs for school. He is quite the surly one right now.

That's the problem with the MIF. She thinks that taking away the phone but still allowing full access to the computer is some kind of punishment. But she just ramps up her tweeting and facebook usage when she doesn't have her phone. I was like fuck that, if you take away the phone, take away the computer, car and TV too. My theory is if they piss you off, it's your job to make sure you piss them off worse. When they figure out that it's them who is going to end up more pissed off, they'll straighten up...

Did I miss something or did you tell us what he did to get this punishment? If not, please do...

Well, if her body is anything like you're alluding her mother's is...then I could see how all the problems can come real quick.

I already told my wife to love the little girl as much as possible now, because this little hazel-eyed girl will hate my wife for a few years once she's a teen. My wife largely is a manipulating control freak, too (if you let her be). So, this is going to get interesting a decade or so from now. I'm preparing to be the one to not take my daughter's side but give her an outlet for venting. Also, I'm trying like hell to get my wife prepared now...but I can see this is not going to go well, at least for a good 3 - 5 years of my daughter's life.

just typical kid stuff

a collection of things really that all hit at once. The kid is like a junkie with the electronics. He has been tanking school and the teacher was telling us he is falling asleep in class, so we've been sending him up to shower and go to bed at 9. Last week my wife decided to check in on him and it was after 11 and he was playing on a game boy. Then he tells us he failed a math test, finally while he was supposed to be doing math home work, I walked up to the computer and hit alt-tab and it switched over to a minecraft game he was playing (instead of doing homework). All this happened in the span of about 5 days.

So he is in shutdown mode. Every computer in the house is password protected, the electronics - ipod, gameboys, all of it is in the safe and he has to show me a notebook every day of him taking notes in class for every class.

Hell, I'd hate me to if I did that to me. But I don't care - at the rate he is going he'll end up community college.

The 12 year old right now is just perfect - straight A's, we went quad riding yesterday, we're playing a round of golf together on Thursday. I know bad days are ahead but I'm enjoying what I have with her now.

I would less upset about me catching him with weed than I am the electronics right now.

It must be special kind of annoying to be addicted to computer games and your dad is a former IT nerd. He ain't getting away with shit electronics wise.

"The kid is like a junkie with the electronics."

Heh, the last incident we had with the 17 year old was two weekends ago, she went to Raleigh in direct defiance of what her mom told her (although she lied thru her teeth and said that she told her mom she was going), then, shitfaced drunk, she calls home at around 1 in the morning (which was the only reason we even knew she was in Raleigh, drunk dumbass), blubbering some shit. MIF went ballistic when she told her she was in Raleigh and clearly drunk as shit, storms out of the house to ride to Raleigh to pick her up, so I get on the phone with her telling her her mom is on the way, she won't tell me where she is. MIF finally gets to Raleigh, gets her on the phone, she still won't tell where she is. I finally get the guy on the phone who I know she is with (at his apartment in Raleigh, he's from Wilson, now living in Raleigh, not a bad guy), I tell him the MIF is definitely going to call the police if he doesn't get her out there and then I ask him if she can just move in with him, he can look after her, get her to school, pay for her food, etc, he's like "No sir, no sir, I'll get her out there now, sorry, sir", so the MIF finally gets her in hand and later tells me the ride home from Raleigh was like a scene from The Exocist, she's screaming and crying talking about how she (the kid) is going to call the police on her (the MIF), something about her civil rights being abused (LMAO). Then, the next day, she didn't remember any of it. Punishment the MIF comes up with is to take her phone away for a few weeks. I was like hell naw, she loses everything for at least a month, car, phone, computer, TV, credit cards, everything. But at least the MIF has now agreed to activate the GPS tracker on her phone so at least she will be able to locate her if this happens again...

LOL @ civil rights. This one may be close to lost. Just hope she marries a Panthers lineman who doesn't pal around with Roethlisberger in the offseason.
