I guess one way of looking at it is at least this will take some of the hype and attention away from the curb stomping we may recieve in Death Valley.
I sat in the stands and asked the exact questions that BBB did in his post above - how can you only score 16 points against Tech?
If you had told me before the game Tech would be sitting on 16 pts with 10 seconds left I would have taken that all day.
Horrible showing by the offense - thought maybe they had turned a corner in the 2nd half vs the Cardinal but that was just pitiful.
We may not score in Hogtown.

It'd be nice...but 29 picks over 3 years is not sustainable. Bama has had the #1 recruiting class for 6 years I think and they actively push underperforming players out the door, and they haven't fielded a team quite like that one as far as I know.

So we're down a QB, top two RBs, a guard, and a center on offense...add in our best LB and a safety. Syracuse isn't a great team but they're not awful either, should be interesting. I only wish we'd done the black unis and Cuse do all orange for the Halloween theme. Oh well.

I'm not sure but I think I saw more people in Doak during a Larry Jones coached game than today...
anyway, at least we got the ball downfield on pass plays today and Patrick looked like he can contribute when he covers for Cook

the shots of the stands in the fourth quarter weren't Miami-bad, but they were surprising for an FSU crowd

The turnout was pretty embarrassing. Noon games in Tally are always bad anyway...hotel rooms are a bitch to find in Tallahassee and generally have a 2 night minimum during football season, and a big proportion of the alumni are 3-5 hours away. So turning it into a day trip sucks - leave the house at 7am and get back at 9pm - no thanks. Add in the fact that the offense was so anemic against GT and resulted in a bad loss and you get a really bad turnout.
A Clemson friend of mine offered me a ticket to the game this week. I thought about it and I've always had a great time up there, but if FSU somehow finds a way to win again I think the Clemson fans will go absolutely apeshit. I'll watch from home.

Still stunned that FSU lost to THAT Georgia Tech squad....

Yeah the fact that Ga Tech may not win another game doesnt make that easier to swallow.
I went to the GA/FLA game saturday and lost in the hoopla over how bad UGA is - UF"s offense is pretty piss poor in its own right. Not saying we will, but no reason to think we cant beat them if we get our head out of our ass.

You shouldn't be.
This team was always going to have growing pains, and part of that is very inconsistent play. The defense has been surprisingly good this year, with the possible exception of pass defense against Miami. It's been better in a lot of ways than last year, though the talent last year was phenomenal.
The offense, however, is going to be great at times and struggle at others. With 4 new offensive linemen, no proven receivers coming into the season, and a QB that can't see over his linemen it was not going to be pretty all the time. Jimbo's offense is quite complex, and young players struggle with it. Winston was an anomaly in that he got it and got it early. The payoff for recruits is that if you do well in his system, you are in a great position for NFL success. Please note that Jimbo told the Bills NOT to pick EJ Manuel before the third round and they took him in the first round anyway.

considering how poorly the offense played the noles stayed in the game until the final five minutes - hopefully the defense will be able to keep us in the final 3 games and the offense picks up enough to get wins

The team played very hard, but Clemson is just a better team. The defense is going to continue to get better and if we can stay healthy, will be one of the best in the country next year. The OL should be much improved next year as well, the solution to most of their issues will come in the weight room.
But we need a QB. Maguire is merely average right now. I have heard Francois might be very, very good and I'm afraid we'll be pinning our hopes on that because there's no way Malik will be starting as a true freshman.
