"By that term I assume you mean African-Americans who publically disapprove of abortion, gay marriage, and the rest of the liberal social agenda."

I'd say the majority of AfAm's disapprove of gay marriage (see Johnette's citing of blacks as the main reason gay marriage failed to pass in CA, although I can't understand why he seems proud of that, although maybe I'm misreading. If so, my apologies). And they should be ashamed. As an oppressed minority, they more than anyone should understand more acutely than anyone the plight of gay people. But evidently, they don't. Some of it is based on their fucked up religious views (how would they like it if someone promoted the reinstitution of slavery on biblical grounds?), some of it is just blatant prejudice. Either way, it's pretty fucked up...

I couldn't find the part of that story where the sheriff's department decided to let the three alleged killers go home with no charges filed. Only to bring them back 46 days later due to public outrage.

Otherwise, the only comparison to be made is the tragedy of two unarmed and seemingly innocent victims shot dead.

The decision comes as many analysts are downplaying the Affordable Care Act's effect on companies such as UPS, noting that the move reflects a long-term trend of shrinking corporate medical benefits, Kaiser Health News reports.

How many millions of full-time employees have been laid off the last 30 years just so they can be hired back as indy contractors with no benefits? How many millions of employees have had their deductibles jacked up, out-of-pocket costs skyrocket, had their family benefits removed, or just had their company medical done away with altogether?

Your article makes the case that UPS is using obamacare as an excuse to do what everybody else has been doing the last generation.

Apology accepted. Among other things, I'm on the board of an organization that pushed for faith groups to support gay marriage in California. Black churchgoers (my members), however, tend to be very conservative - certainly my members are much more conservative than I am on social matters.

And it is an issue. Ask my members - who go to a church in a neighborhood that was 80% black when we bought it from a Jewish temple 60 years and is now 80% latino with a huge immigrant population - and they are HUGELY anti-immigration "send 'em back to Mexico," fairly pro-death penalty and sinfully anti-gay. There is very little grace offered as a corporate body, though individually almost all of them have Latino friends, relatives in prison and gay musicians in their churches.

Of course, I blame the White man for screwing up our heads . . .
During a press conference later, O'Mara was asked if he had any advice for Zimmerman, and he answered, "Pay me."

I guess I just don't understand how "against gay rights" can in any way be construed as a conservative value. My idea of real conservatism is, if you're not hurting me or anyone else, it's none of my business. And I like that kind of conservatism. But you don't really see a whole lot of it around these days. The stuff passing as conservatism these days is a crock of shit, as are the people who claim it. IOW, all the RINO members in this shithole...

Didn't Newt push through a rule that said members of congress had to live by the same rules as us regular folk?
