Bottom rate was cut 33% and the share of taxes paid by the bottom 50% of taxpayers dropped. More people paid zero federal tax.*Tax cuts - even under Reagan and Bush, only the Elites received a substantial rate cut.
Top rate was cut 11.6%
Only in the mind of the intellectually dishonest did the bottom rate not receive a larger cut than the top.
W's cuts made the tax code MORE progressive not less. He should be a hero of the left.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
In 2010, as the nation continued to recover from the recession, a dizzying 93 percent of the additional income created in the country that year, compared to 2009 - $288 billion - went to the top 1 percent of taxpayers, those with at least $352,000 in income. That delivered an average single-year pay increase of 11.6 percent to each of those households.
Still more astonishing was the extent to which the super rich got rich faster than the merely rich. In 2010, 37 percent of these additional earnings went to just the top 0.01 percent, a teaspoon-size collection of about 15,000 households with average incomes of $23.8 million. These fortunate few saw their incomes rise by 21.5 percent.
The bottom 99 percent received a microscopic $80 increase in pay per person in 2010, after adjusting for inflation

CEOs of the largest U.S. companies made 354 times what the average worker was paid in 2012 - the widest pay gap in the world - according to SEC filings. Thirty years ago CEOs were paid 42 times what rank-and-file workers in the U.S. earned

Does this mean you will vote for a libertarian or conservative 3rd party?ut I also think that the Bubba's are about done with the R's. I know I am. The plutocrats that really run the GOP are fairly contemptuous of the social conservatives - almost as much as liberal Democrats. Social conservatives are getting the hint from our betters and aren't voting for the nominees that were picked on the greens of Augusta National anymore.

I already did. I wrote in Ron Paul in the 2012 general election. I'll probably vote for Rand Paul in the primary, but the Establishment will make sure he never wins the nomination. I suspect the Establishment has already nominated Chris Christie, and all the primaries are for PR purposes only.Owlman wrote:Does this mean you will vote for a libertarian or conservative 3rd party?ut I also think that the Bubba's are about done with the R's. The establishment doesn't want Rand Paul to win the primary because they know he's a lock to win the general election!!!!!

McDonnell Scandal update...as a recap for those who aren't aware, Bob McDonnell is accused of receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts, stock, and other benefits in exchange for favors done for a company called Star Scientific. It's basically ruined his political carreer (he was talk about as a running mate for Romney!!) but it may now also send him to prison.
Maureen McDonnell, the first lady of Virginia, twice purchased thousands of shares of stock in Star Scientific, a spokesman for McDonnell’s legal team confirmed Friday night. The stock was bought and held in the same time frame that she and Gov. Robert F. McDonnell were taking steps to promote the dietary supplement company.
Spokesman Rich Galen said the first lady did not inform the governor either time she purchased stock, which Galen said she bought for herself and her children.

Rand Paul for the GOP = Ross Perot. 0 electoral votes.

At a minimum, he'd win Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Tenn, Kentucky, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, West Virginia but he'd lose California, New York, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, New Mexico, Florida, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Mass, New Jersey, Conn, Del, Rhode Island and probably what is every normal swing state.innocentbystander wrote:For what Dog Catcher?Dr. Strangelove wrote:The establishment doesn't want Rand Paul to win the primary because they know he's a lock to win the general election!!!!!

Is Rand Paul for legalizing drugs? That might not fly in South Carolina. Then again, maybe it would: "I never thought heroin would get applause in South Carolina"...

But the decision by the scotus may be a foregone conclusion, right? Individual liberty has taken several punches to the groin the last dozen or so years. As the usual suspects - patriots to the core - always say: 9/11 changed everything.
