The NWS said it was 102 with a heat index of 112 here on Friday. I played eighteen holes in it. Our foursome had the course to ourselves for the most part.

I don't like olives, at least not enough for them to be the main ingredient. When I went to Central Grocery, I just got a T-shirt.

gator, this place was in Richmond, Va. (Kuba Kuba) and all the food was bland. Strange because it was run by a Cuban family. I've had one of those roast pork sammiches somewhere else (can't remember where but the experience in Richmond made me recall it) and it was dry. I like my roast pork soaked in vinegar so I considered it an affront to proper eating.

It was hot as shit at the pool today. You had to keep putting your head underwater just to cool it off and the shallow end felt like bath water. but about 10 min. after we left the pool, a fucking strong-ass thunderstorm rolled thru and knocked down a bunch of limbs and fucked up some folks' houses in town. now it's a balmy 71º

I drove about 3 hours from here east yesterday and power was out in pockets in multiple places. Came home and had a hail storm hit us about 7pm. Went out to Sonic to grab something to eat and all the employees were in the parking lot because it was out of power.

I went to the pool with the girlfriend and her Korean friends yesterday (insert comments and jokes here), and it started thundering around 2:30. It never rained though, but it looked like Hell was fixing to break loose.

1. People are tripping on zombie attacks in Florida, but these are the real threats to civilized society

2. Chimps would whup the ass of gators, bears and big cats combined (well, the bear would have all it could handle).

chimps don't seem as bad as baboons with their fangs and purple asses

I think Baboons are far less agressive, though.

Between the above story, Travis in Connecticut and Moe in California I think I've seen more than my share of chimps removing appendages from its human victims. They are the gangsters of the simian world...and not the deliberate, calculating gangster type like Vito Corleone, but the irrational, volatile gangster like Vincent Mancini from Godfather 3.

strange because gorillas have that reputation yet are probably the gentlest of the great apes for the most part.

and baboons tend to attack more in packs whereas chimps will go solo or just in a small group of 2-3.

So we really should be afraid of Midgets after all?

Midgets that are 8 to 10X stronger than men.

I guess I better stop shooting my Midget neighbor with my pellet gun then.

There's a scene in Cormac McCarthy's book Child of God where a guy fights a chimp in an attempt to win the $50 purse. It starts off OK for him (the chimp is indifferent to his punches, leading him to a false sense of accomplishment), but then the chimp strikes and things end badly. He does not win the $50...

For some reason has gone down in quality the past few years. Last year I recommended someone to go there and it was a big disappointment for them. Then I spoke to a hotelier friend of ours who let us know that it had gone down in quality.
