Luck is the real deal --impressive even after a few mistakes last night. colle needs to retire

boy mark martin needs to thank his lucky stars--that concrete all if the car hits 4 feet forward impales him
Luck did look good and yes, Martin was 4 feet from death. Lucky guy.

No way. It would have been a lot worse, but I highly doubt it would have penetrated. There are several solid frame bars there as part of a roll cage around the driver that dont extend back to where the wall hit the car. That part of the car is soft with very little solid frame and no cage.

It would have been worse because the car would have decelerated much faster as the sturdier roll cage took the brunt of the force from the wall, whereas the body panels and the oil tank absorbed most of the energy in this case (like a crush panel). It would have been more likely to hurt Martin, due to a sharper deceleration force but I doubt the wall would have penetrated the roll cage. the most dangerous part about that wreck was the possibility of the car getting over the wall or through the opening, or a flash fire with all the oil running under the car. Need to curve those walls around and back into the opening to get rid of the sharp angle.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

This is the old car, but its similar. Notice how the driver/roll cage (#7) suddenly ends just behind the drivers seat, then behind that theres nothing except the oil tank. the wall just happened to hit a part of the car that is soft.

Peyton put up some nice numbers against the 49er #1 defense.

Manning becomes just the 3rd QB in NFL history to throw for 400 TDs. And he did it in fewer games than the other two guys.
Deep thought of the day: "I was adopted. I thank my birth mother every day for not aborting me (although I wouldn't doubt her decision if she did)."
