I'm curious, how many national championships that team had?

I'm curious, what does that have to do with "leading a college basketball team?" Or are you modifying your statement? Otherwise, there are a lot of programs not being led at all...ever...throughout the history of college athletics by Freshman, Sophomore, Senior or otherwise.

I would still argue that the Davis/Gilchrist Cats are candidates for your weirdly high bar for "leaders" anyway.

this may not be the most frustrating UK team I have watched but I am at a loss as to what has happened to this team. 3 players and possibly another have played themselves out of the NBA in the last 5 games. At this point, our record may save us but we're not even as good as last years team.

I suppose you could say that the team is behind and struggling in a close one, and the players see a team "leader" take charge and step up the level of play and (by doing so) elevate the play of all the others. And then they win a game they would not "otherwise."

I would call that a leader. In my opinion....

We don't see those very often (never?) from college freshmen basketball players. Florida is kicking ass right now NOT because of freshman. Same with St Louis. Teams have strong veteran leadership. That will pay dividends for those teams in the tourney.

That said, I don't know what the fuck is going on with Syracuse at the moment. Total choke job the last couple of weeks.

The Fab Five did not storm through the regular season or tournament when they lost to Duke in the Finals. They won and lost plenty of close ones...until they won 5 out of 6 in the Tourney. All freshman, elevating their teammates. I think they easily showed that. It's not impossible to have a freshman (or freshmen) lead a team to success in college basketball.

Calipari was so upset with James Young's 1-10 3 point shooting last night that he benched Poythress every time Young missed

(joke from the Catspause board)
