I want Goldie to publically apologize to Roy about coaching this team. There ain't no doubt he outcoached K last night. Roy made the necessary adjustment in the second half by going to the 1-3-1 and K didn't have an answer.

The top 4 matter specifically because you really want that #1 seed in your bracket. UNC has probably been a #1 seed in their bracket a few times so you know what I'm talking about, it is pretty much a guaranteed win that first Thursday or Friday. (I don't think a #1 has ever lost it's first game in the tourney.) Syracuse is going to have to work very hard (from here on out) if they want that #1 seed.

It is difficult for me to think that goldie is for real. No fan I've ever known takes as little pleasure (in goldie's case, none) in his own team and only focuses on negatives. Sure, some fans are worse than others and we all see negatives here and there, but that's all he ever talks about, never anything good. His commentary last night was 3 pages of griping and bellyaching, if you hadn't seen the game you would've assumed we lost badly, but then, seemingly in the middle of this negative tirade, he quips "nice win, heels". LMAO. He's not really a fan, just a complainer, not sure why he latched onto Carolina. Indeed, like a barnacle...

Cuse should be booted from the top 5 after that loss. BC had 17 points at halftime. That might be the worst loss by a No. 1 team in my lifetime.

Dook should move up to at least #3. Heels crack the top 25. UK beats LSU and falls to #20. Dook, wanting to be like Heel fans, storms court after beating Syracuse... Florida wins NC.

Roy being roundly praised today for his in-game moves, esp. switching defenses to confound the dookies.

Bad day for goldie.

When is the last time a mid-major-hoops (a Creighton, a Butler, a VCU, a Gonzaga, hell even a Villanova) won the NCAA Tourney? Has that ever happened, ever since they expanded to 64? And when I say mid-major-hoops what I am really saying is any school that plays division-1 basketball that does NOT have an FBS/85 scholarship football team.

Parker is definitely not a Scottie Pippen type. Not in the least. If anything, Wiggins is that. Parker is Adrian Dantley...which isn't a bad place to be.

The loss to BC was one of the best things to happen to Cuse after squeaking out so many close calls. This puts them back into a good place to make some noise in the tourney.

UConn in 1999. Georgetown won the year before the 64 team field and Villanova won the year after.

But Nova and UConn played in a major hoops conference so IB needs to revise and resubmit his criteria.

so no mid-major has ever won the NCAA since 64 began.

no actually aTm is right. UConn is the answer I was looking for. I don't care that UConn played in a major hoops conference in 1999. Their football team was FCS at the time. So (by that criteria only) they were effectively mid-major-hoops...

...not anymore, obviously. And prior to 1999, it would have been Nova in 1985.

Okay, so a couple of mid-major-hoops schools won the 64-team tourney in almost 30 years. Not much. There is not a whole lot of data supporting the Creightons, the VCUs, and Gonzagas of the world to say they have a shot a winning.

If we're specifically talking status as a major conference, what about the Big West in 1990?

I can't call them mid-major hoops schools since they played in a major hoops conference. They were mid-majors in football that won NCAA titles in hoops.

Yeah, that's probably right. UNLV is the only mid major to win a title.

By my criteia only, UNLV would not qualify since (in 1990) the UNLV football team had the FBS number of scholarships permitted by the NCAA.

"Parker is definitely not a Scottie Pippen type. Not in the least. If anything, Wiggins is that. Parker is Adrian Dantley...which isn't a bad place to be."

Last night was the first time I've seen Parker play, the way he ran the floor, his handle, his outside jump shot and the way he took it to the rim all reminse, ded me of Pippin. Of course he disappeared (thankfully) for a long stretch in the second half (saw on ESPN today that he didn't even touch the ball for like a 7 minute stretch, which is unfathomable to me), but when he was rolling, I was very impressed. Looked like a better version of Harrison Barnes...
