That reminded me of this segment from Being John Malkovich. This story has moved me like no other...

I found a nice sub shop in Dallas called Which Wich. I'm sure its a chain but I don't think they have them around here.

If you haven't been to one, you walk in and select from one of about 10 pre-printed sandwich bags that have all the possible combinations of sandwiches they sell, and using a sharpie you just go down the list selecting what type of sandwich, bread, dressings, etc you want , hand the cashier the bag, she rings it up , they make your sandwich and give you the sandwich back in the bag you gave them.

I guess the novelty of that would wear off but it makes the line move pretty fast and the sandwiches were really good - better than Subway and even better than Quizno's.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Which Wich is a national chain, but they are based and founded in Dallas, and I suspect the majority of the franchises are in Texas.
Sure, I could have stayed in the past. I could have even been king. But in my own way, I am king.

never been. I would probably try it out if one opened near me, but most are suburban here. Theres a Houston-based burrito place called Bullrito's (I guess the national equivalent would be Chipotle but thats way down on the list here) thats doing something real similar to that method of ordering.

So in other words, you're left holding the bag...

In the Philly area we have WaWa that does something similar (although it's not a sandwich place, per se, more like a more fancy 7-11/deli).

There is no bag holding or Sharpie, but it's all touchscreen driven before you even have to get to the counter. Actually, Romney loved it and it caused a bit of local amusement because he kept mispronouncing the name of the chain.
The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place.

B'ham gas a Which Wich. Opened up a few months back. I think it's owned by Mexicans.

They decided to branch out from authentic Mexican dishes in Birmingham?

There was a Which Wich in Cola near the law school, and I wasn't that impressed. I have seen others but have never been to them.
