ESPN comparing it to Artest back with Indy is just stupid. But that's ESPN for ya.

I don't agree he should get a several game suspension either. I think 2 would be appropriate.
Fan behavior is out of control now anyways.

That's probably the greatest moment in Mr. Super Fan's life, getting shoved by a player...

There are witnesses. He must of said something pretty bad when Smart was lying on the ground because otherwise, smart wouldn't have gone up to him initially. John Lucas III remembers the fan and said that he was pretty bad. That being said, throw something at me, I may kick your ass. Words, for the most part, I'll ignore or get someone else to do the dirty work.

I agree, but not by much. I thought 2 was appropriate. That being said, you catch me on the wrong day with "nigger" talk and you may get off light with just that kind of shove.
Jackie Robinson, I am not.

follow up on Marcus Smart
The fan was specifically named by Texas Tech, a guy named Jeff Orr who has been profiled by Texas Tech for being such a dedicated fan. This isn't the first time he's gotten into a mix up with a player and ESPN identified one coach who made it a point to show Orr to the players and tell him to avoid him during the games.
What Orr said is caught on tape and I have to admit, for today's fans its not over the top. He yelled "you're a piece of crap" to Smart.
Orr had volunteered to not attend any more Texas Tech games for the remainder of this season

If they had caught that on tape, I suspect TT would've banned him themselves...

Video tour of proposed upgrades to Rupp Arena. Impressive! ... but looks like it would be simpler just to build a new one than to spend $300 million to renovate.

TT had actually done a video of this superfan and how much he supported the team. It's clear from the video that while on the ground, Smart thought that something was said (he later said that some sort of racial epithet was stated). This was denied by the superfan though. I have no problem believing that Smart thought something was said based on the way he responded. But i doubt anything was actually said. There were too many people around that would of heard and who would have turned him in.
Either way it doesn't matter. You can't go in the stands (unless for the reason Anthony Davis went into the stands). But there should be some rules for the fans as well.

I think Smart would have been a little more justified in his actions had the fan actually said something racial though. OK St had lost like 4 of the last 5 and Smart was feeling the pressure.
Travis Ford is an asshole and I'm sure he was taking the losing streak out on Smart.
