RE: Auburn vs. Arkansas State

Good news:
1. We won, and this time it was convincing. We don't suck anymore.
2. The RB's and the OL played extremely well. We have a solid running game. Marshall continues to learn that not every pass has to be a bullet.
3. The defense hasn't given up a touchdown in 6 quarters. And that's against one team with a strong passing game and another with a strong running game. Ellis Johnson is slowly but surely exorcizing the ghost of Ted Roof from our defense.

Bad news:
1. That was still only Arkie State. The preseason is now over. We'll see how Auburn does against an SEC team next week. We've still not ready to seriously compete against Bama, LSU, aTm or UGA, although we're clearly moving in that direction.
2. Because of that unfortunate hit, Kris Frost can't play the first two quarters against MSU next week. We're not particularly deep at LB, so that is going to hurt us.

Nebraska is one of the two states that traditionally have a much higher incidence of child molesters...

Unsurprising

Whew.

We didn't play all that well, but we found a way to win.

Whenever I am tempted to lament how far Auburn has fallen, I just think about Tennessee and feel batter.

Actually, i thought AU played them pretty well. But it proves the rest of the conference has not a chance in hades.

The SEC currently consists of Bama, LSU, aTm, and UGA. The rest of us are competing for table scraps.

I'm concerned about Swain's injury. Those delayed reaction knee injuries are notoriously painful. I hope he's okay and there is no lasting damage.

Prof, excellent observation re... Curly.

Y'all will be fine without Swain... you're like 4 deep with 5* players at LB.

That's only until they flip to Bama on NSD or just before. Even an AU tattoo is no guarantee anymore.

I want to beat UGA worse than I want to beat Bama. We had the upper hand over the Dawgs for a long time, but they have owned us recently. And there is no reason for that - UGA teams have not been THAT good. Bama has been markedly better, but we've had more success against them.

Time to get the AU-UGA rivalry back to its former, natural state of AU usually winning.

True. Georgia has had your number of late. You beat a bad Georgia team in 2010, but otherwise, nothing in the last 5 or 6 attempts. That said, Richt hasn't had a truly bad team - expect 2010.

Time to get the AU-UGA rivalry back to its former, natural state of AU usually winning.

I thought it was a slight Georgia lead all-time? Not gonna look it up.

Anyway, FWIW, I think you annihilate the Silver Britches this year.

I hope your prediction is correct. Georgia is returning from their rash of injuries. Gurley is back, although maybe not 100%. I think we are vulnerable to big strong backs like him, LSU's Hill and Bama's YelDrake. Murray is as good a QB as there is.

We will not be able to simply line up and run all over UGA. For us to win, Marshall will need to throw a LOT more than he has needed to recently. And even more importantly, our receivers need to catch the ball when it hits them in the numbers.

I think it will be close.

It's been funny reading the reactions of UGA fans. Lines of the week:

"UGA: LSU talent, South Carolina results, Bama attitude."

"UGA fans are like Bama fans, but without the championships."
