I suspect that nouveaux Christianity is the last stage of pre-atheism. It takes about one generation for people to figure out there's not much point in paying much attention to a Jesus that was merely a really cool dude.

This has been a really good day for the left. For them it has been like Samhain, Diwali and Savior's Day all rolled into one.

The supreme court says that people can no longer be discriminated against because of who they're attracted to and PT sees it as a sign christians are gonna be worshiping the one true god in the sewers before long. hilarious. and sad.

Women and blacks got theirs. The disabled, too. Now gays.

After we're gone....people will wonder what the fuss was all about.

So, are we now saying in this country that homosexuals are a protected class? What if it infringes on another right, like the first amendment? Should a religious institution be required to retain the employment services of someone engaging in an activity that goes against that religion's teachings? Or must that institution offer the same spousal benefits to same sex couples as to heterosexual couples?

Just look at Europe.

Yeah. Just look at Europe. Total shithole.

Then look at a country that's still following God's Word on gays: Uganda. Thoroughly delightful.

First of all, that was a retarded statement since both Europe and America were clearly stronger institutions when they were more Christian. Now, I am not arguing that Christianity is the cause of strength of a nation, but it certainly does not cause poverty.

Secondly, if you had followed the line of discussion, the point was not that Europe was a shithole, the point was that it used to be more Christian a century ago and has gradually turned more atheistic. America is following the same path.

A nation of laws will only exist as long as a vast majority of the citizens have some sense of morality.

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

Homosexuals should be protected by the same rights you and I enjoy. No more, no less. A church shouldn't be forced to marry a gay couple but should be allowed to if they wish, and that couples union should be valid in the eyes of the law.

Do you think that a church should be allowed to fire an employee because he engages in homosexual behavior?

Church can be a fine place for fostering morals and good people, but it need not be a Christian church. People who get their moral compass from good people like their family and community are much less dangerous than those that get theirs from reading a two thousand year old book. Particularly when those folks start infecting the community by placing emphasis on like 3 lines in that book over the whole message and start recruiting people to blow up clinics or whatever.

"1. As if there was any lingering doubt, today proved America is a post-Christian country."

I thought the Supreme Court decision against Jerry Falwell and in favor of Larry Flynt proved that years ago...

"They will have to get used to being a minority in a strange, and sometimes hostile, new world. Being an Orthodox Christian is an advantage in that we have a lot of collective experience in that situation. "

You have indeed a long collective experience with being strange and hostile...

Do you think it's a coincidence that all this occurred whilst PNN was occupying page #666 of this thread?

I would hope the church wouldn't hypocritical and wouldn't fire a homosexual for behavior that wouldn't result in a heterosexual being fired.
