The inside of the car is the private property of the car owner, the land is the private property of the land owner. Both peoples private property rights are upheld, the car owner can't get his gun out of the car without permission from the land owner and the land owner can't tell the car owner what can or can't be in his car.

On one hand you don't think it's private property, but when called on it you now act like you always thought it was private property.
