Loverboy, Pat Benatar and Journey are in concert tomorrow night at Riverbend, $31 for lawn seats.

I think I might surprise the wife and get us tickets.

Loverboy played in a field where my kids played soccer here 2 years ago to about 800 people. I think tickets were $13 and you got a free hot dog.

That sounds like an unpleasant surprise.

In college, me and Stu drove from Chapel Hill to Greensboro to see Ted Nugent and Aerosmith play at the old G'boro Coliseum, but when we got there the parking lot was empty and the sign said they weren't playing until the next week. I went back the next week (by myself, don't know what happened to Stu) and the place was half empty (and it wasn't very big to start with). Can't remember who opened for whom, but they were basically both Spinal Tap. Probably the lowest point for Aerosmith in their entire career, right before they rose from the ashes via MTV. Nugent never came back. Well, I did get a Ted Nugent for president t-shirt and sticker a few months ago, but I don't think he's making as much on those as Aerosmith has made since 1986...

I have never been so ashamed to say I went there but I have to admit, they have always had the best band in the country. Sometimes though like this time, they stray like college kids do.
