Ohio State went from #2 to dropping out of the top 6 after losing to the #5 team in the country? Tough crowd...
I think they are the highest ranked two-loss team in the country. I think that was very kind of the pollsters to rank the Buckeyes that high.
Watching that game it was clear to me, Ryan Day did not really have much of game plan for Michigan. I think they just took the field and figured, we are so much faster and more athletic that Michigan, we have owned Michigan for 10 years, we'll just win and who do we play for the B1G-T(14)N championship? I mean seriously, Ohio State defensive backs were tackling Michigan running backs from behind in open field, Ohio State receivers were making miraculous 4th down receptions for 1st downs, they just relied too much on their athleticism. And in the lines (particularly their defensive line) they were no better than Michigan.
And it started to snow a little.
And the fans were fucking LOUD (all 100,000+ of them.)
And that was that.
They might be the best two-loss team in the country. Its possible. They are certainly athletes. But Michigan was the better team that day and the better team overall, that is sure.

I may be the minority here but college football needs Michigan and Notre Dame in the CFP this year

It would be fascinating to see coachless Notre Dame, but I don't think they will get chosen without Kelly, especially with the already existing sense that Notre Dame gets in and always immediately gets blown out. I guess if all of the conference championships go sideways, it might force that though.

I still think the committee figures out a way to keep UC out at the end. I can understand it too but damn that'll be cold. Houston is no cake walk. ND can't pass them without a loss but OSU beating Baylor is probably all they'll need.

Maybe. I agree with you rat that it is only OK-State that could pass them if Cincinnati finishes 13-0.
I think if Georgia beats Alabama by a point (just win by a point) that's it. Cincinnati will not only make the playoffs if they beat Houston, they go in ranked #3 in the country behind only Michigan. What are the pollsters going to say or do to rationalize dropping Cincinnati down to 5 in that circumstance? As you said, 11-1 Houston is no cakewalk. They aren't. They are ranked 18th in the country.
Assuming Cincinnati beats Houston, there is no possible logical argument to say that Notre Dame makes the playoffs but Cincinnati doesn't.

If Michigan, Georgia, and Baylor all win, then I believe that what you think College Football needs, will happen. Notre Dame can also get in if Houston wins.

If I were an AD of a blueblood, my next contract with a coach would include an additional $2m buyout if they were to leave for another job before coaching a bowl game.
Kelly could have agreed to terms with LSU and kept this quiet while coaching ND to wherever they are going this year.
LSU fires a national championship coach (and I realize he did some stupid off the field stuff) 2 years (1 with Covid) out, and hires a coach that will leave a team in real contention for the CFP.
Sounds like they are made for each other.
He just passed Petrino on the coaching asshat list

No way he could have kept it quiet with the recruiting period being what it is now.

Maybe not. But if Fickell isn't leaving
neither is Dana. And they are BOTH deserving of better contracts/teams but they will likely stay. And they are staying for the same reason. Both Houston and Cincinnati will be "Power-5" soon. Its done. They are IN.
