Yeah. SLC, Provo, and the like aren't nearly as dull as outsiders think.

I must say I'm surprised about the BYU contingent. I never said people in Utah don't drink and that there is no smoking, drinking or cussing in Utah. I am just surprised to see anyone who travels to BYU games partaking. I guess it is not surprising, but for me, I grew up in a Mormon home and went to BYU games every year growing up and never experienced it.

To be honest, I have no idea if these fans were actual Mormons. And like Jim McMahon, not all alums were followers of the church (McMahon was catholic, iirc).

How do you think he discovered the sensual pleasure of large black men?

AA, I drink. I haven't practiced Mormon doctrine or been active in the religion since I turned 18. My wife and kids are Catholic, and therefore, so am I by proxy? It was much less confusing when I just didn't go to church...

That one and Sav thinking about taking a tour his own self at the WLCP are a couple of my favorites.

I wonder how Sav's health is. He used to e-mail me pretty often, but I haven't heard from him in several years. I hope he's ok.

I have some bad news for you. Here's what happened:

I spent my formative years on the subcontinent, as my father was a major in the British Army and stationed in India during the Second Opium War. Once, while he was away on campaign, I was tasked to eliminate a streak of rogue tigers who had been killing the villagers in a place called Bharatpur. My houseboy, Savgator, was my faithful servant on this expedition. The journey was a hard day's travel and we made a hasty camp to get some rest. But before I could finish my tea, a village woman named Culay ran in and shouted that tigers were attacking. We quickly followed and after killing three of the beasts, I set my sights on the fourth -and last- but unfortunately my gun jammed. Thinking and moving on instinct, I drew my knife and leapt on the back of the behemoth. My blade found his carotid, and dealt a mortal blow, but not before the tiger had clawed Sav. As the tiger fell, I rushed to my servant's side and surmised that his wounds would likely prove fatal.

Nonetheless, I thus began a frantic search for help when I happened upon Sgt. Gunny McDonald, a deserter from the Scottish regiment that had been under my father's command. Gunny thought I was a part of a team to bring him back, so he attacked, but I kept my wits about me and killed him with a Kimura Lock.

Afterwards, I rifled through the dead sergeant's supplies to find something -anything- that would help abate Sav's pain, and found a bottle of Drambuie among Gunny's things. I ran back to my camp faster than I had ever ran before, but upon arrival I found that poor Sav had died while I was gone. Grief-stricken, I sat down and drank the whole bottle before making my way back to the base.

Now, every October 24th I toast a glass of Drambuie to the memory of Sav. As god is my witness....

Very Hemingwayesque, AA. I seriously do hope Sav is still doing ghost tours in Savannah. I don't miss Sav's Grandson though…

I used to get several emails from Sav myself - he ignored (didnt get) my last few so dont know whats going on there.

We met for beers once in Savannah - he was a good guy in an old fart kinda way.

I googled him once but he has the same name as a fairly famous entrepreneur so I couldnt sift thru all that crap.
