I have a friend who taught several Sociology classes at NCSU during Chuck's years, and she had several football players, including Manny. She said Manny was an awesome student, but there were others who "fit the stereotype". One in particular didn't come to class after the first week and never dropped. She sent in the appropriate notices and failed him when the semester was over. He was suspended from the team for academics and never played again. The moral of the story is that the situation was dealt with correctly, and I was very happy to hear that.

Also, I hate to break it to you, but the fact that Hudson went to Carolina probably hurt us more than anything because he most likely had a more critical eye towards McAdoo's argument in order to prevent any appearance of impropriety. Hudson is a very well respected Superior Court Judge.

It was a preliminary injunction. They're very rarely granted because the bar is so damn high. You not only have to show a likelihood that you will prevail at trial but that it is a substantial likelihood that you will prevail on the merits. Then, you have to show that not granting the PI will cause irreparable harm.

There has been a bench ruling but no written order as of yet. It will be interesting to see what Hudson says. I didn't watch all of it, but from what I saw, neither burden was met. They did a nice job of showing what was fucked up about it, but that's it. I can't say for sure though.

In my opinion, they were destined to lose on the irreparable harm issue because it's hard to show that it's affecting him directly in any way by not playing football at this point in time. It wasn't a right. It was a privilege granted to him. You can argue the contractual aspect of it, but that also brings into play the fact that he violated the rules and agreed to be subject to the NCAA's punishment when he signed. Yeah, you can talk about the possible professional chance, but that's so far out there that it's impossible to prove a logical nexus.

IB, my father was an NC State graduate. I've been an NC State fan since I can remember. the idea of applying to unc never even occured to me. that being said, had I applied I doubt vey seriously I would have been accepted. my high school grades were mediocre at best. I got into State based on a pretty good SAT and lower admission standards. I then worked my ass off to graduate.

as a State fan I've had to listen to crap from dumbasses like DS, and random thugs who couldnt find chapel hill on a map about how superior carolina is to nc state and how currupt we are while unc was pure as the driven snow for 40+ years. now that the truth has been exposed that unc is as dirty as they come, and their academics are a joke I'm merely enjoying the payback from 40 years of crap. please allow me my moment of joy.
