Both him and Adelman seem retread-y to me, but they both have records you can look at, and experience as head coach with big name players and egos. A satisfactory hire, which is probably all they were going to get right now anyway.

Jim Buss is a dick and needs to be humbled. Shame to see that humbling happen at the end of Bean's career.

I give Buss credit for not bending to the players wishes. You own the franchise, you call those shots. Just look at last year's Cavs to see what happens when executives make personnel moves based on a player's wishes

Well, Buss listened to Magic when he wanted Westhead fired, so it's not like Buss is impervious to the wishes of players.

Lakers owner Jim Buss expressed regret that Kobe Bryant was not consulted about the hiring of Mike Brown.

"Looking back on it, we should have contacted Kobe," Buss says. "Kobe said it was management's job to pick a coach. He just said, 'Defense first.' That's what we were doing, but we should have reached out to him.

How will Kobe take to Brown?

"The way Mike impressed the three of us, I would think Kobe would be impressed as well," he says. "Mike is a workaholic and Kobe is the workaholic."

If Brown couldn't control LeBron James on offense, how is he going to do so with Kobe?

"I've seen Kobe go off the place a few times, but I'm sure the coach will know how to handle it," Buss says. "My dad loves Kobe and so do I; we think he has a lot left. And I know Mike has some ideas on how to elongate Kobe's career."

Video at link.

Los Angeles Lakers star Ron Artest helped break up a ferocious man vs. woman fistfight in front of an L.A. nightclub this weekend ... and TMZ obtained footage of the entire incident.

Artest had just left a club -- and was walking down Hollywood Blvd. when a woman and a man began to throw punches at each other RIGHT NEXT to the NBA superstar.

After some bobbing and weaving, 6'7", 260 pound Artest stepped in and quickly separated the two combatants. Once both fighters were restrained, Artest got into a waiting vehicle and went home.

TMZ spoke with Artest who told us, "Unfortunately there was a situation at the club and some people had too much to drink, and got unruly and aggressive. I tried to diffuse the situation. Some people just don't think clearly when they've had too much to drink -- it's an unfortunate reality. "

We also spoke with the female fighter -- who admits she was "wasted" ... but insists the other guy instigated the violence.

Maybe they wouldn't be so stuck on themselves if people didn't make threads about them?

Issue settled. Snoop endorses Mike Brown hire.

Shit, you can launch a music career anywhere nowadays. Either way, being an NBA wife pays a whole lot better. I don't look at that as any sign D12 is coming West.

This will get JD a little euphoric...

I just got an email from one of my people (yeah, those people) who confirmed to me that D12 told his agent to make the Los Angeles move happen; however it needs to be done.

Whether it happens, who knows. But he's saying the right things publicly...but is all about coming West.
