In a new spambot trend that has ominous implications for my working environment, it appears that we are now attracting bots that are posting links (with pics) to porn sites.

Ah, yes...Calipari's yearly extension...he'll be signed for many years long after he's worn out his welcome...

yea, I think that premise is pretty silly - Cal is throwing out things like I won't coach when I'm seventy and UK fans are translating that to him staying with us the rest of his career.

What we do know is the money we are paying him is NBA equivalent for new coaches, and the NBA is not going to pay for another Rick Pitino situation. Meanwhile he is top dog in college so UK has gone a long way to limit his excuses for leaving.

Still, if he stays or goes, it is what it is. Pitino bascially had a sweetheart deal and UK fans felt he was a lifer , then he bolted when a better deal came along.

well. fuck. RIP "Lo.

"Raleigh, N.C. — The driver killed in a bus wreck on Interstate 40 in Raleigh Monday is former Wolfpack basketball standout Lorenzo Charles, WRAL News has learned.

No other vehicles were involved in wreck and no passengers were believed to be on the bus at the time, said Raleigh police spokesman Jim Sughrue.

The bus belongs to Elite Coach, a limo, charter bus and car service based in Apex. A spokesman for the company said the bus was headed to Durham to pick up passengers and that the driver had no known medical conditions.

The wreck closed two lanes of westbound Interstate 40 and the entrance ramp to the interstate from Chapel Hill Road.

Motorists were advised to avoid the area. Traffic was being detoured onto exit 290.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck.

very sorry to hear that. I remember sitting at a stoplight on Western Blvd. in the fall of '84 behind a lime green Continental with the license plate LO-C 43 and being delighted to see him dressed like a mack daddy with a fine bitch in the seat beside him.

Also saw him and Co-Rilla walking around signing autographs during a game at Carter-Finley once the year after they won it all.

I add my condolences on Lo-Rilla. Saint, I can't believe how often our hoops memories match up from that era. I haven't heard Charles and McQueen referred to as Lo-Rilla and Co-Rilla in 25 years.

Augie -- As a Carolina fan, of course I hated that State team. I always felt that horseshoe they had in their collective rectum in 1983 took away from our greatness in 1982. But looking back, that really was a talented squad. If anything, they underachieved until tournament time (and yeah, I remember Whittenburg was injured vs. Virginia at midseason). Thurl Bailey was a very good pro and man, their guards could shoot the shit out of the ball. I never, ever, expected Terry Gannon to miss. They set up a portable goal in Northgate Mall one time in the mid 80's and had shoppers take a few shots for charity. I was one of the few who made one at all. But Gannon? That dude never touched the rim on a goal that reminded me of the rigged ones at the State Fair.

"the NBA is not going to pay for another Rick Pitino situation"

Correct, they're not going to bring in a college coach to turn around a pro franchise. But Calipari's greasy guido ass would be a perfect fit in Miami. They like greasy guidos down there almost as much as they do in Lexington...

Sorry to hear about Lorenzo Charles. He was part of the most famous play in college basketball history.

He was a pretty good bus driver, too. Not great, obviously, but good...

Well if Riley came back to coach, you could at least say he was a Kentucky guy based on his past history at the school. (But yeah, he is more like Cal as a human being than not.) But Cal has no link to Kentucky other than his current run as coach and no one thinks he wouldn't leave for a better deal. Cal is out for Cal and he will jump ship once a better deal is offered or the NCAA starts getting warm.

Look, he's a scumbag. But right now he is a fairly effective scumbag for UK, so thats nice. I'm just saying you have to be insane to think he has any affection for UK above and beyond what the school can do for him right now.

Cal is undefeated in Rupp, an admirable streak that is going to end in humiliating fashion when the Tar Heels roll into Lexington in December and whip UK's ass by 20...
