Kentucky had alot more problems than point guard last year. Outside Noel, they were just flat out bad...
"Do they have the wherewithal to go after Chris Paul?"
The only thing the Clip joint would consider trading Paul for would be Hansbrow, and I'm sure the Pacers would never make that trade...

Paul is a free agent, no trade needed. The question is can two superstars like Paul and Hansbrough co-exist on the same team...

I didn't think Paul was a free agent. I kept hearing that it would have to be a sign and trade.

First, PJ will receive a NCGS 90-96 discharge (goes on what is essentially probation for 6-12 months, and if he passes all of his drug tests and does what is asked of him, the charge will be discharged--doesn't count as a conviction) for the pot possession.
Second, No Operator's License is a slap on the wrist. It counts against his driving record (two points), and it might affect his ability to obtain a license for a small amount of time. However, it might be dismissed as well. You can get a PJC on that.
Third, possession of a gun without a license/permit is not a crime in NC. If it was concealed, then, yes, it would be. However, what they're most likely doing now is determining if the serial number had been distorted, whether the gun was stolen or if it shows up as a weapon used in a previous crime. Even if it comes back that it was one of those things, who knows if they can even tie it to PJ? Showing possession there would be a major issue. The sticky issue is that Durham County is the only county (out of 100) that requires registration for handguns. The legislature gave them a waiver to allow that several years ago. Still, proving that he knowingly possessed a stolen firearm or even that he possessed an illegally obtained handgun (sold without to person without using a handgun purchase permit or concealed carry permit) would be damn hard.
Sit him out a few games early against the directional and small schools of the world. Make him run steps with a 40 lb vest until he pukes for a few days, and have him enrolled in community service programs and drug awareness classes. That's all that Roy should do.
Also, the Durham DA's office is in a tricky position. They are constantly scrutinized because it was so mismanaged for so long, but they can't just throw this one out with the trash. However, don't worry. PJ won't receive active time.

Roy has publicly stated that he has a 'zero tolerance' policy. We'll see if he's as good as his word. Guarantee the kid will be back on the court in time for the UK game.
The kid would be dismissed from the Kentucky squad if he played for Cal. Roy is a different story.

The original word (and pretty damn official since they sent it through IC) was that it would be handled internally. The gun stuff was rumored yesterday and came out today.

you better hope not.
DS, word on PP is that the pot weighed in at over an ounce and a half and that multiple baggies were in the car. Assuming that's true does the weight, baggies and gun possession raise the possibility of intent to distribute (or whatever it's called )? Does that change your guestimates in your last post?

Even if there was a felony amount for PWIMSD, he would still get the 90-96, and the gun thing is tricky at best because it was outside of the vehicle.
Also, I have had over 1/2 of a fifth of Macallan 12 year old.

I respect your disclaimer.
I submit that if the Heels skate with this one (and we all know they will) they they change their mascot from a farm animal known for submitting to the desires of drunken farmhands to Ernie "Big Ern" McCracken who after winning the Reno Nevada Million Dollar shoot-out proclaimed himself to finally be above the law.
