When you look at what the police have as weapons, it makes you shudder. It is a result of technology and a bunch of money thrown at them from Homeland Security. I hope you understand us gun advocates, now. I just recently purchased a weapon for the first time in my life and plan to buy more not because I am afraid of criminals or my fellow citizens.

no doubt cops overreacted
no doubt the looting that took place on the first night precipitated the show of force.
handing it to the state police was the right thing to do Kudos to CPT Johnson
I have a hard time believing either the police version or witness version of what happened that night--probably something down the middle
is what triggered it--arrogant cop and arrogant teenager
but multiple gunshot wounds in the victim tells me that cop was intent on bringing that kid down and willing to fire multiple times at somebody running away. WTF enraged that cop to do that ---fear or rage. again probably down the middle

state police excellent job excellent newsconfrence
military ex cops/amateur cops with APC's and assault weapons not so much
I think they said he robbed the store at 1150 and was confronted at 1201 by the cop while "minding their own business"

seriously?
thug teenager bullies a clerk and steels a box of cigars from a store--clerk call the cops --video and pics show brown grabbing clerk by neck and pushing into shelf befoe exiting with the witness
said witness (johnson who was with brown in the kwiki store) then says 10 minutes later they were minding their own business when cop comes along accosts them and shoots brown while he has his hands up for no reason
seriously sardis?
the bully on that tape demonstrated thuggery 101 puts on his halo for his confrontation with the police?

I think the Ferguson PD had bought dash cams, but they were not installed. The tanks apparently came with batteries, though.
The "other" dude in the surveillance picture from the store does not look like the kid I saw on the news that was with Brown while they walked down the street, for whatever that is worth.

Crash, yes he may have been a thug, but he was an unarmed thug. I am not sure proper police protocol lets you pump a few bullets in them.

I agree
all Im saying is he was being protrayed as an angel prior to the release of that footage. but the police had to at least show why they were after him if he assualted a clerk and robbed from a convience store 10 minutes prior. you can see why any cop facing a robbery suspect that big might be weary. throw in the fact the major witness to what the cop did is the kid accom, panying brown during the assualt. there was a physical confrontation between brown and that cop that likely resulted in injury to the cop. do you let brown walk away? do you believe the witness who says brown was surrendering? do we believe brown was hit by multiple gunshits while his hands were up--that the cop continued to fire--seriously a 6 year vet with no history of discipline is going to continue to pump rounds into a kid with his hands up?

Why did it take 6 days to release that he was a suspect in a robbery??? Something that should have been mentioned at the beginning? Where's the public record police report? Why were the local police: 1) so secretive about his as a suspect and 2) why the exaggerations about the Molotov cocktails, the shooting of tear gas at someone protesting in their own yard and the manhandling and false arrest of reporters in McDonald's including accusing them of trespass at a private place open to the public where the owner manager hadn't asked them to leave yet and 3) why did it take 4 days to interview witnesses including the witness that was with the slain man who was available to them and the media immediately?
Thank you state police for taking over. The local police seem a bit overzealous and poorly trained (and confused about the law). The exacerbated the problem. People are allowed to videotape and you can't order them to stop under the law.

what a goat fok
you now have the Chief saying the cop didnt even know about the robbery when he shot the kid
1-why did you just tell everyone this morning the cop came off of an ambulance assist because of this robbery
2-how do you not know as a cop thata robbery just occurred 15 minutes ago 1/2 mile from where you are

I teach my students to trust their nose. If it doesn't smell right, then it probably isn't right. This doesn't smell right.

They need a white witness to the shooting to come forward. That would clear everything up.
