I might as well jump in. I like Rand Paul's idea of having every Republican vote present, and let all the Dem's economic plans pass. If the American electorate wants Democrat economic policies, then so be it. Then, when the inexorable laws of mathematics wash like a wave over the liberal sand castles of deficit, debt, excessive taxation, and dollar devaluation, the Dem's will totally own it for a generation.

A shame that you felt it wasn't worth mentioning how the Paul family feels about the economics of a pair of wars stretched out over half a generation. How our military decisions alone have bankrupted us.

"How our military decisions alone have bankrupted us."

Are you going to ignorantly stand by that statement?

Since 9/11 our debt has increased $10 trillion. The wars have contributed $1 trillion of that.

It's wikipedia so take it for what it is, but in wiki, according to a Brown University study, the cost of all three wars is closer to 3.2 to 4 trillion and that's only through 2010.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Financial_ ... e_Iraq_War

Incidentally, debt at the time of 9/11 was 6.1 trillion. Debt at 9/11/2011 was 14 trillion. So an 8 trillion dollar difference of which up to 3.2 trillion to half of that is due to the wars since 9/11.

No, according to the site you reference, $1 trillion of that is for estimated future care of veterans which hasn't been counted as part of the $16 trillion debt yrt. Another $800 billion is for Homeland Security infrastructure which we d be spending anyway even if we didn't go to war in Iraq or Afghanistan. The remaining 1.4 Trillion is direct cost of combat and foreign aid in the region and the interest cost for borrowing.

Bush tax cuts count for another $2 trillion of which 1.2 trillion benefitted the poor and lower middle class.

Sorry, but at the most, you can only claim 3.5 - 4 trillion of the 10 trillion debt increase on war and Bush tax cuts. But go ahead, drink the kool-aid of a handful of leftist economists and put your head in the sand as to what our real fiscal problem is.

What in the world are you talking about? This has nothing to do with how much the wars costs.
