Agree on the weed. But on the other two, it's a lot easier to give a free pass when it's not your car or your store.

Heh. When I was in for jury duty you could tell a few folks were trying their durndest to get out of it. No one had the balls to pull the race card. But one lady did say serving would prevent her from paying her rent and that would make her inclined to be pissed off at the defendants. And when one of the defense attorneys asked the perspective jurors if they tend to think the defendants must have done SOMETHING wrong to end up in court, about 80% of the box raised their hands.

I always get out of voir dire quite easily. Whatever the case, I disclose that the same thing happened to me or a close family member.

I always get knocked out by Defense counsel on the first go 'round.

I always get out with 4 words. "I'm A Convicted Felon."

I was knocked out very early, the first case was a rape case (in Durham) but the defense attorney was a neighbor of mine and I used to do rape evaluations in medical school

In the second I informed them that I was a retired OB/GYN that was a torts professor in the local law school and the case was a civil medical malpractice claim against a local OB/GYN. I don't even know why I had to be asked any questions.

I forgot to add that my legal practice was in medical malpractice defense

I got removed on a peremptory challenge, so I don't know exactly what it was that got me booted. The only questions I was really asked about was about my brother being a cop and my career as a scientist.

I do criminal defense and family law. I don't have to worry about ever being on a jury.

How many cases have you won?

Several. I do my best work in domestic violence court since those charges are usually bullshit that unravels quickly.
