that is one luxury that UK has (or burden). We have the assumption of guilt, so every move we make is reviewed. Pete Thamel and Pat Forde have dedicated their lives to trying to find us cheating . Pat Forde even left ESPN because they handcuffed his writing on Calipari because he had a book deal with Pitino and was clearly bias in the number of articles he wrote including refusing to slam Pitino for sexing up a whore in a restaurant. But that is irrelevant - I can't guarantee you that UK is squeaky clean, but I can guarantee you we have more resources, both internal and external making sure we are clean than any other Div I Basketball program.

And this is because we cheated, and we paid the price for it. Something UNC can neither admit nor face the consequences of.

I'm attacking (if you even call the standard sass that we've been throwing around here for years as "attacking" anymore) only b/c I was attacked. I've never tried to justify the questionable classes and I don't think the "everybody does it" response is a justification and maybe not even a mitigation. But that doesn't make it any less true. Also, I think that the number of questionable AfAm classes taken by athletes was a fraction of a percent of the total classes taken by all athletes at Carolina. Again, that's not a justification for any blatant grade changing or whatever, but it is nonetheless true. We admitted something wasn't right, got rid of the department head and fired somebody else. But at some point you have to move on.

Sure, as a fan, I'm not going to be as rabid about the whole thing as some rival fans seem to be, but I don't think my stance is anywhere close to as delusional as Auggie's (and many other Wuffpaick fans) who, embittered by decades of inferiority, rage and hatred, try to make it out that every football and basketball player at Carolina over the past 40 years has never taken a legitimate class or even gone to class and that the academic standards in every department of the entire university are a joke. That is really not very far off of what I think Auggie and his ilk really believe and I am very sure that anything even approaching that is just plain delusional, which again is being fueled not by any sort of fair and rational look at the case but rather by bitterness and hatred towards mainly the basketball team (b/c they know that's what we have the most pride in, so that's what they'd most like to tear down) and the football team. But in the end, they'd really love to see a huge black mark of the entire university, which really is just pitiful and pathetic on their part, but that's who they are and what they do and Carolina fans are very used to it. I'm sure they would say the same thing, but I certainly would not ever want to change places with them....

no, you didn't - unless you count the Charlotte Observer running first hand accounts of people who participated in the cheating as an admission. And your punishment was for trangressions of the football program prior to this academic scandal.

Thats the humorous side of this. UNC is doing so much cheating that the general public can't even distinguish between what has happened and what they are being punished for.

Look, when 99% of what I'm hearing is a bunch of Wuffie's frothing at the mouth and flapping their lips and some local reporter who is shoveling meat to those rabid masses b/c he knows it's good for his rep and the circulation of his paper, I'm a little skeptical. And when you add to that that the national media has hardly made a peep (yeah, a few stories here and there, but not much more than that), and you know that they would if it was really serious (see Penn State or Reggie Bush, etc), then I tend to dismiss the whole thing as merely the standard rabid rivalry hatred. Frankly, nobody outside NCState fans gives a shit about some sketchy classes in a minor department that a few athletes attended. Even more, I have heard some national commentators more or less poo-poo the whole thing. Not saying that makes it alright and not saying that I'm not downplaying it somewhat. But I am convinced that I'm not downplaying it nearly as much as Wuffpaick fans are trying to make it into the worst athletic scandal of alltime. And yet I'm the delusional one. Unfortunately for you, nobody but your Wuffpaick brethren (and a few random hecklers in here) agrees with you. But I understand that you're not going to let the virtual silence on this issue by an overwhelming majority of the national media (who, if they thought they were really onto something big would run with it til the cows came home to Raleigh) deter you from your outrage. yahoo news, the NY times, washington post and several others have all published multiple articles about the U*NC scandal, none of them poo-pooing it. ESPN coverage has been minimal/non-existent because of where it's CEO attended college.

how much coverage would you expect in North Carolina if the CFO of Proctor and Gamble was found to be using a corporate jet and funds for personal use while having an affair with an underling, and would you expect an audit of P&G's books to see if that CFO had misused funds in any other way?
