Lewis Grizzard quipped that they could never convict Edwards because they couldn't find twelve people in the state of Louisiana who thought stealing was a crime...

I was reading an article this morning that said Corey Booker was the first Newark, NJ mayor to get through office without being indicted since 1962.

"I never stole any passwords, nor did I trick an army of co-workers," Snowden wrote during a Jan. 23 live chat on FreeSnowden.is, a fundraising website launched last year in support of his asylum.
Got use of the word "army." That's high quality obfuscation. Well done.

The NO mayor will lose a bunch of sentence time on appeal. He'll have a talk show in 6 years.

Corey was Bill Maher's favorite politician. And of course, Bill didn't say a word about Booker on Real Time last night.

I haven't really kept up with the story and trial of that guy that shot the kids for loud music.

But seems about right that he's going to spend the rest of his life in jail. I would have been disappointed if he tried the stand your ground defense in that situation.

The portion of charge that hung was bullshit, though. How are you found guilty of attempted murder for the kids in the car you didn't kill, but not found guilty for murdering the kid you did kill?

yea, but the article I read said the dude will die in prison so the jury was like whats the difference? not that I agree.

also reading , it didn't say it specifically but the article kind of implied that he felt he was going to walk - and I can't help but wonder if it was because of the Zimmerman trial.

It does make a difference in terms of possible parole. He will get parole hearings. The prosecutors blew the case.
Another show trial that reveals overcharging by the prosecutors. The jury got hung up on whether it was 1st degree (premeditated) versus second degree. How are you going to charge him with first degree and then not present evidence of his bias that he readily showed? Should have just charged him with second degree. This jury would have found him guilty of that in a second.
